I think that the BH profession needs a total revamp, and that the requirement to BE a bounty hunter should simply be "novice in an elite combat profession". This way if the bounty hunter likes pistols, he takes pistoleer, if he likes carbines he takes carbineer.. etc etc.. this would allow for bounty hunters to be as diverse as is represented in the movies (boba is a carbineer, jango a pistoleer, aurra sing a rifleman, etc etc). This would also allow the BH to master that elite profession as well as their own. Bounty hunter skill boxes could then be devoted to focusing on "gadgets" and different types of bounties (like one line is vs melee combat types, one for ranged, etc) and those trees give access to defenses against those type of attacks..
This would show the bounty hunters focus on a type of bounty giving him some defenses against the type of bounty he is interested in..
Overall this would give the bounty hunter class the high offense/medium defenses that the developers admit that they need instead of the medium/low they admit they ARE...
But, doing this would mean the weapon specific specials would need to go to the elite combat classes that they SHOULD be part of all ready..
-anyone- can be a bounty hunter... being a bounty hunter means you are focussing on collecting bounties on people.. it should not mean you get certain specific combat skills related to weapons giving you more power than someone who devotes their "life" to learning that weapon gets..
So Yes, the bounty hunter would be a "dabbler" but that is NOT a bad thing.. the weapon is merely a tool to allow the hunter to catch his prey.. specifics are not needed..

All I can say is if their not broken their incredibly poorly planned. Melee defense 2 doesnt knock anything down cept maybe one in one hundred tries for a whopping 3 seconds.Healthshot 2 does a bleed and MORE DAMAGE @ NOVICE, than bodyshot 3 THREEblocks UP in the tree! Im at 3/0/3/4 in the pistoleer tree and being blunt pistoleer sucks.
I can go to big lots and buy the most incredibly ugly piece of garbage furniture, sculpted and crafted by ablind tibetan monk. mass produced in hong kong, and on sale now at big lots because they could not be sold anywhwere else fortwo dollars and ninety nine cents! I CAN do this but why would I WANT to? Pistoleer is like this. ICAN kill things with a pistol, but WHY? Given the choice of killing something in thirty seconds or killing it in thirty minutes with a pistol... Ill take the thirty seconds. This skill has NO REDEEMING QUALITY. Wait thats not quite true... Novice is decent. If you just get novice so you can use the DX2 and spam healthshot 2 you arent wasting your skill points. Maybe even the 2 technique boxes so you can fire a genosian blaster, but thats all its worth. This is of course my opinion, and im sure varies from many, but I took a day to make my decision, im dropping it. Terrain negotiation, is VALUABLE. Stimpack use is VALUABLE. Creature harvesting is VALUABLE. NOTHING in the upper pistoleer tree seems to be. Ill go with most of my template. Master Kasi, master smuggler, novice pistoleer with enough for genosian (0/0/2/0 or something close to it) and KEEP my Scout and medic skills.
Good luck pistoleers. You are some stern people to stick with a dead skill. I cant do it. Id rather quit the game than be a master in a so called elite skill and be worse than a novice tk. @ novice tk I was hitting for 1200 points of damage avg.
SOE needs to realize this... they cannot just balance things, the skills have to be worth having. BTW before you all start FLAMING me... Think about how the Chef cans ell his crates of brandy and canape for 240k while it takes you an hour to kill 2 gurk nests for 18k. its just flat sick.
