I created my character the day Bria went live the 2nd time and I have the Republic Blaster cert.

It's mind boggling to me to think that the developers put in the time and effort to add the Republic Blaster to the game, yet failed to correctly code the certification that would allow people to use it. Yet, all the facts point to exactly that conclusion.

These are the stats of the Republic Blaster for a master smith on my server.

49-179, 2.4 speed, 18/50/18, 19.2% wound, energy damage, +0(0m)/-45(0m)/+0(64m), light armor piercing.

This would be a nice addition to my scout, FWG5, DX2 arsenal. It's not overpowered by any means, so I doubt that it would require a special skill set or even a faction promotion level.

The developers have promised new weapons are coming, but let's hope the republic blaster gets fixed soon so we have a toy to play with until the new ones arrive.

It's mindnumbing that the time and effort was made to put an entire profession in the game that didn't have any working certifications, i.e. commando. So, it's really not surprising that one pistol might have gotten messed up. As I recall, I don't remember seeing anything about the Republilc Blasters during Beta at all. Maybe I just didn't see them, but there was never any discussion about them on the Beta boards that I remember.

I thought I had the solution... if you do the missions at Emperors Retreat, the Emperor will eventually give you a Republic Blaster. I thought I was given the skill certification as well at that time - which would have been a cool reward - (I might have hadthe skillbefore though...dunno, never checked) - but Im still penalized ("unable") using it.

If any SOE official could enlighten us, we would be very happy...

all my charcters have the republic blaster cert, even my character that has no fighting skills what-so-ever, alas, still cannot use it
