There has got to be someone who can either confirm or deny the rumors that the Republic Blaster is working "as intended" for the most part.

From what I've been reading there are a few arguments with regard to Republic Blaster use:

1) Everyone gets the certification but the certification is broken regardless of faction standing....

2) Everyone gets the certification but you need to have the rank of sergeant or higher to use without penalty...

3) Everyone gets the certification but you need to have the rank of staff sergeant or higher to use without penalty...

4) Republic Blasters are like Jedi... you hear about em but you never see one in action.

I'd ask which of these was most accurate but you'll all tell me #4. That aside, can anyone confirm whether or not these pistols are functioning at any level without 'lack of certification' penalties?

I currently am Rebel faction with SGT ranking and my Rebulic Blaster still works as if im not certified, my skill box shows im certified and I cant seem to get your above question answered as well. If anyone knows the status of the Republic Blaster please advise.

The weapons are in the game and work fine. I've seen some very nice player made Republic Blasters.

The cert is broken though - everyone has it from birth, but it works for no one.

I do not know what the intention of the Dev team was though, so I don't have a guess as to how it will work once fixed.

Not working. I have the Cert and had one made for me. I am currently a Staff Corporal in the Rebel Army. That didn't effect it at all. I get the a "damage will be greatly reduced" type message when equipping it and only hit for like 9-14 pts of damage.

When was your character created?

I created a new character sometime last week. I did nothing but select a planet, take 1 look at his certs, and log off forever, just to confirm that he got the cert at birth.

Of course if you actually go to equip a Republic Blaster it will say you're not certified, but it shows in most people's cert window (lowest one on the left, not the skill one just above that).

Getting the RB cert from birth sounds like a bug. I don't have it on my character. I have seen some very, very nice RBs and it wouldn't make sense for everyone to be able to use them from birth.

Hmm, I'd say I created maybe Mid-July. And yeah, I know which window is the certs window, last night me and my friend were comparing, he had it, I didn't.

What rank is a Staff Corporal? Does that come after Sergeant? I'm working my way to Sergeant right now and since I am in the military in real life it doesnt make any sense to me for a Corporal rank to come after Sergeant? Is this a bug or poor planning on the part of SOE?

I can confirm....Zabrak CH/Pistoller Created within 6 hours of launch and I do NOT have the republic blaster certification in my certs list :/ Don't know if this is the bug or if the cert-from-birth is the bug. But anyway... I am w/ Ragathol on this. I also lack the cert.

Having the cert doesn't help, so don't feel left behind, bro.
