Phil I understand the math that you wrote out but from my own personalexp. this is not the case.

Body Shot III is better then Body Shot II

While the formula may say other wise, I have killed enough poor Bolle Bols on Naboo to see that BS3 does more damage quicker then BS2.

My exact gun is this:

62 - 267 .9 speed (gotta love speed slice, and YES I KNOW you cap at 1 second) Krayt FWG5

Well geez man, that explains everything. You're using a 0.9 speed pistol. Let's plug in 0.9 speed instead of 1.5 and see what we get:

BODY SHOT 2:

1.8 *0.9 - .54 (1.8 * 0.9) = .7452 seconds (which becomes 1 second because of speed cap)
2.1 damage / 1 second = 2.1 DPS (with 0.9 speed pistol at Stances 4)

BODY SHOT 3:

2.4 * 0.9 - .54 (2.4 * 0.9) = 0.9936 seconds (which becomes 1 second because of speed cap)
2.5 damage / 1 second= 2.5 DPS (with 0.9 speed pistol at Stances 4)

So yes, BodyShot3 is better than BodyShot2 if you're using a 0.9 speed pistol. But how many people have those? Yes, if you're using an uber Krayt weapon that is extremely fast, BodyShot3 is often better than BodyShot2. But that's the exception, not the rule.

Apparently BS2 unless you have a Godly pistol

This is not correct.

If you have a speed sliced pistol of less then 1.5 speed then Body Shot III works better.

I have tested this on mainly diff. higher level mobs on Naboo (and Dant, Endor, but Naboo is easier to get less aggro) and if you have a pistol with good speed it is much better.

Now if you don't have a speed sliced pistol, then yes until you get master BSII will do more DPS.

Actually you're the one who isn't correct, Rake. Even if you have Stances 4 (+54 Pistol Speed) and have a 1.5 speed pistol, BodyShot2 is better:

BODY SHOT 2:

1.8 * 1.5 - .54 (1.8 * 1.5) = 1.242 seconds
2.1 damage / 1.242 seconds = 1.69 DPS

BODY SHOT 3:

2.4 * 1.5 - .54 (2.4 * 1.5) = 1.656 seconds
2.5 damage / 1.656 seconds = 1.51 DPS

To getthe analytical portion of your brain pumping, faction in a pistol with a speed powerup using bodyshot3 vs a pistol with a dmg powerup using bodyshot2.

Another thing to think about, is while 10 BS2 may be required to kill a certain target, but you only have to use 8 BS3s, you save some ham using BS3.

Yep. The moral of the story is that BS2 is usually better but not always. Those tests were run with a 4 speed CDEF not a higher speed FWG5 or Scatter.

I can't do that without knowing the actual damage of the weapon -- you can't generalize about how powerups work because they affect maximum damage and minimum damage differently. Somehow I think I've already made things complicated enough, anyway.

You're right that there is probably a slight HAM cost savings over time with BS3. In general, as you know, HAM costs aren't a major problem for Pistoleers right now -- that's more of a Carbineer problem. It's pretty rare that a Pistoleer would want to lower his DPS for a slight HAM cost savings, particuarly when our HAM costs are fairly low and a Novice Medic can heal for 600+ with well experimented Stim Bs.

It's time to necro this thread for questions like this:

Short answer, at +74 Pistol Speed, switch from BS2 to BS3 at pistol speeds below 1.9s.
