Thread: Best pistol available?
dx2/scatter 95% of the time
also carry a mod. republic, tangle, scout, something else.
but im strictly PvE
ham cost isnt much of a problem when you stay buffed 24/7

As others have said it depends on the situation at hand. Use Examine on your target before attacking and look at the resistances. Find which resistances are the lowest, and check to see what the Armor Rating is too. Use Examine on your Pistols too, and get to know which weapons do which type of damage. Also check the Ideal Range on your guns, and learn which ones have Armor Piercing. When I played a Pistoleer (only left because I canceled my account, but I've just rejoined the game) I carried the following:
DX2 - Acid damage, Light Armor Piercing (also called AP1), don't know the Ideal Range off-hand.
FWG5 - Heat damage, No Armor Pierching (AP0), 20m Ideal Range.
Republic Blaster - Energy Damage, AP1, the listed Ideal Range doesn't matter this gun is best used as a long distance weapon (it's the best long-distance Pistol in my opinion).
Scout Blaster - Energy Damage, AP0, I pretty much only used this for destroying lairs, you can use a DL-44 here instead of the Scout if you like.
I left the game after the Geonosian cave had only been in for a little while, so I never owned a Geo Blaster, but I would suggest you get one of those too. Geo Blasters do Stun damage and I think they're AP0. You can take a Striker with you too if you want; I saw one in a vendor yesterday that was Kinetic damage so I think it's just a bad rumor that they've changed to Energy.

You forgot Striker (kinetic). Actually, if you havea Republic there's little reason to carry a DL44 or Scout, except for the speed of the scout.
The striker's not kinetic anymore. No ranged profs have kinetic anymore. They all got nerfed to be energy. I still carry one (as well as a DL44 and Scout) because of the cool factor. But for real fighting with energy, it's the Republic all the way.
I read that the DX2's bugged to be very innaccurate. Is this true? I DID notice that when I switched from my main pistol being a DX2 to being a Republic, I hit better.
So, I realized that I'm COMPLETELY wrong... I had remembered my striker to be energy, and a friend (who's almost always more knowledgable than I am when it comes to SWG) had been telling me how all the kenetic stuff had been nerfed so that only the melee folks get it.
Since then I re-examined my striker and realized it IS kenetic. And my carbine friends have kenetic Nym's carbines.
In short, I have officially made an ass of myself on the forums ![]()
"how could you have a negative accuracy modon your ideal range?"
If that bothers you, then whatever you do, don't examine a pike. A good pike.

I was amazed when they fixed that on the DX2 for us. The gun had horrible accuracy at all ranges until they changed it. That took a good deal of prodding from Pistoleers to get that change to happen, so Pikemen just need to start complaining about it more
FOR PVE:
Carry a selection of guns, like everyone else says.
A Pistoleers strength does not lie in his high damage output ( mostly because you need to have a billion dollar gun to have a high damage output as a pistoleer) but in his ability not to be limited by damage type. While yer TKA friend is trying to smash his way thru %80 kinetic resists you can take the easy route and switch off to an unresisted damage type. Carry as many as you can. Use /ex alot. Use the best tool for the job. We aren't the machete, we are the swiss army knife.
FOR PVP:
hotkey /burstrun and have a /delegatefaction macro, it'll save you time. In short, just don't unless you have some "real combat class" skills to back you up.
I carry a crap load of weapons... the other day I had 17 pistols on me. I am down to 9 I think now....
I know for a fact that I carry....
Prenerf FWG5
Featherweigght FWG5
Scout Blaster
Geonosian Sonic Blaster
Stiker Pistol
DH17 Pistol
Custom made D18 with scope / muzzle
DL44 Metal Pistol
DX2 ( one for speed and one for damage )
I think thats it... Sometimes I just like to fight with weapons for their looks and not the functionality, yet I refuse to use a SR Combat Pistol and the Tangle...
But... my D18 kicks so much ass. 1.2 57-130 lol, but the pistol LOOKS awesome.

I was referring to the fact that the ebst pikes ahve something around -70 accuracy modifiers at all ranges.

the difference for pike is that they have 150accuracy at master compared to our mere 95

obed striker's are still kinetic..... they won't be changed any time soon either
also the DX2 USED to have horrible point blank accuracy..... but now they have about the same as the point blank mod (can even be experimented to be a lot higher as well)
**edit** drr.... didn't see your later response....... but the nym's carbine IS acid unless that one is from a similar situation like when all tusken rifles were kinetic for a week
as for the original post...... welcome to pistoleer, there is no "best weapon" (though some would think some are better than others)
that's the benefit of pistoleers having only light AP..... we have a lot of damage types to switch between to compensate for whatever situation we find ourselves in

FWG5
DX2
Republic Blaster
Striker
Tangle
Geo Blaster
I prefer the DL44 Metal over the scout because it is a bit more powerful without the heavy HAM cost of other weapons.
I usually use TK moves instead of a Striker but you never want to get killed for lack of firing back.
The Tangle isn't nearly the gun that the Geo Blaster has become. Still, it is kind of a novelty and I haven't destroyed it yet.
The Republic Blaster completely replaced my SR Combat pistol. The SR had AP in its favor but the Republic Blaster has better speed, damage, range, and is also AP1.
