As it stands now, how are Pistoleers (an Elite combat class) supposed to stand beside Rifleman, Carbineers, Bounty Hunters, TKA's, Fencer's or any other elite combat class if giving us comparable abilities would make other classes, extremely more powerful? This is my issue. BH's can say they aren't powerful but try bring a pistoleer without eyeshot or the speed. As a master pistoleer I do not have the capability to enter high level PvE lairs and my capacity in PvP is almost nill. While its nice that they offer the DE-10 to master pistoleer, it's essentially uselss without the BH pistol line, which only further exasperates the balance. I as a Master Pistoleer am weaker than a BH in regards to pistolswith just the pistol line simple due to eyeshot even though I spend more points. Unfortunately the devs can't correct this issue without further unbalancing things. While smugglers are severly broken, they are not a combat class and have other skills to make money. Pistoleer are combat only with no crafting abilities. They must make their money through missions like other combat classes. We however have a much more difficult time of doing so due to our handicap. I have been a pistoleer since last July and things have only gotten worse. Now like many other people I am trying to understand yet another delay in the combat balance. While I understand their desire to bring JTL on schedule, it still leaves all the problems in the main game dangling. I am voicing my displeasure with the situation that hasnt been improved since launch, that has been repeatedly brought up without resolution.
I have posted my stance on these forums to let my voice be heard about what an obvious issue is that has yet to be addressed to my knowledge.
Well on the upside maybe JtL will give me something to do without being a FotM. Just angry at the dev's blind eye to the majority of players (who are neither jedi nor bounty hunter) whose needs never seem to be met; just eternally delayed.

Other then that they are simular to cap in speed as we are. Add BH carbs line and you got a pretty good carbineerjust likewith pistoleer/bh 4/smuggler df4. If they gave pistoleer the love we all want you'd make a bh/smuggler/pistoleer dabbler FOTM. I'd have to agree with the orginal poster on that, but in order to discourage dabbling they would need to up the SP cost of every prof. Prehaps making it mandatory to pick up a basic mastery will make it harder to dabble so much. As it is now though as a Master pistoleer I have to dabble if I plan on using pistols effectively. I hope there is a balanced change for this as well.

It is our biggest problem
The thing that bothers me the most is the longer the combat rebalance is delayed (under the assumption the pistoleers will become a viable elite combat profession) is that the longer that we are left behind and put at a disadvantage.
We don't get to solo spellweavers, krayts, and dark jedi masters and get "uber" loot while padding out bank account.
We can't go to the DWB and get the DE-10 pistol components that we need.
We can't get the high level and high payout combat missions (even if I group with my pets as master creature handler, 47 max) that other flavor of the moment templates can (unless "solo grouping" sounds attractive and is available)
We are pretty much insta-dead on any advanced planet without a master doctor buff.
Any fairly decent pistol costs a million credits +

Yup, the carbineer specials got a revamp a few publishes ago. They've got a great set of specials now, with the vast majority of them useful. The only thing that cripples carbineers now is lack of speed (+60 at master) and poor selection of weapons for PvP.
If the devs did to the pistoleer specials what they did to the carbineer specials this profession would be 100% better.

Carbines are basically a short version of a rifle.

I was a die hard carbineer on my old retired character, so I can tell you first hand that Publish 7 boosted them enormously. 11 working specials, 3 redundant, 1 broken (that may or may not have been fixed in Publish 8). Sounds a lot better than the current state of pistoleer.

If you want pistoleer to be treated as an elite profession, then it will have to get a revamp like what CH had.

as a master pistoleer / master teras kasi, i notice no boost in mission payout when i switch my weapons. if there is a difference it must not be drastic. /shrug
