Thread: The rediscovered DL-44 Pistol...I never would had thought it's actually decent
I rediscovered the DL44 awhile back when I was browsing a vendor. You just don't see them much, but they have pretty good stats.
I figured I would pick it up for dusting lairs (decent speed, like a Scout Blaster) but I find myself using it more and more where the damage type fits in. I just got Stances III and found I am becoming a pistol speed junkie.
I have noticed on my server the 44's are getting better, pretty much comparable to the modern FWG5's but with energy damage. My server is just too expensive though.
Example -
DX2 - 102-160 2.5 speed 20-25k
FWG5 60-180ish 2.0ish 20k
Etc etc...
Sometimes I can find the goods for about 12-15k. But price gouging is out of hand. And as has been pointed out, i don't think that the WS's are really doing all that much to improve anything. They hardly make anything other than the big 3 for each class, then they jack up the prices. It's a pain in the butt.
I really think the economy in this game is way hosed. A few people got real rich real quick, but it's a constant grind just to stay equipped. I can eat through a weapon in a few hours. And the repair kits are a pain to find, although I did find a few last night after search every vendor on naboo, dant, and tat for 4 hours. They weren't even 99.9%.
I am just going to stop now before I say anything stupid. =P

One thing I just recently found out about is that the WS can add things like scopes, muzzles, and stocks onto weapons for:
1) a unique look to the weapon
2) added to hit bonus, damage, etc.
It's basically like a permenant powerup added to the weapon but the weapon must be crafted by hand. I also got some carbines with stocks and scopes and muzzles added onto them...not only does it create some nice damage spread and to hit bonuses but the guns look like real guns...just really got me into the game again.
Couple of corrections. There is no muzzle as a crafted component. The muzzle you're referring to is just a pistol/rifle barrel and the weapon was crafted by hand. Most weapons have a pistol/rifle barrel and are required to build the gun. You can't seethe extra graphics of itif the weapon was created in a factory, but its there none the less.
Similarly, for stocks and scopes, you can't see them if the weapon was created in a factory, but they may be there and affecting weapon stats. The weapon doesn't have to be crafted by hand toget thebenefits of a scope or stock, but it does have to be crafted by handfor the stock or scope to begraphically visible. If the weapon was created in a factory, the only way to tell if a scope or stock is there is to examine the weapon's stats. If the HAM costs are through the roof, there's a stock (stock adds 40 points of damage max). If the accuracy modifiers are significantly higher than normal, there's a scope.
Btw, stocks can only ever be put on carbines or rifles. Never on pistols.
Couple of things I can lend to this little lot having been a master weaponsmith in the past. Quit yesterday to be exact.
My best non krayt DL44 was 89-194 1.7 speed. Unsliced.
I didn't make many custom design parts such as barrels orscopes since many weapons do not show the graphic but unless Im very much mistake factories do retain the design of the original schematic. It may not work for all of them but I used to make the really fat silver scope a lot.
A weel made scope can run you at 1/1/1 HAM and increase accuracy by about 40 at ideal range. For that though you need the best weaponsmith, with the best materials who has 12 experimentation points.
You can get your range much much better but the HAM cost isnt worth it.
Scopes are almost worthless. They add a great deal of damage but the HAM costs are rediculous. Advanced stocks are bugged in that they seem to have a higher HAM / Damage ratio. This might not be a problem after the combat changes but as they currently stand a weapon with a stock will likely kill you faster then it will kill your target.

O btw my weapon preferences are FWG5, (can't say republic blaster, i'm a big time Imperial), DX2, Scatter (allthough i haven't used one in ages) and last but certainly not least the Tangle Pistol.
Not for nothing, but the Republic Blaster is named after the Republic of Naboo, not the galactic Republic that the rebellion is attempting to restore. Try reading the descriptions of items once in a while, you learn a lot.
