I don't know If I'm lucky or what, but once the KD timer goes down (that red line) I can do another firearm strike and I don't miss. I tested it on a MLS/Mdefender and only thing I noticed was he blocked it once out of mahy times, with not one miss, and the only time I did miss was when I tried to KD back to back.

Err, this was in reply to badger...apparantly I can't figure out the quote system lol

It doesn't work for you?the majority of stuff I try it on is at least 80...as that's usually the time where I really have to worry bout them hitting me. Like I said, besides kimos and krayts, which I just don't get in range...I've never noticed it not working. what cl80's is it not working on? my guess is it's either a mob that doesn'd kd, or perhaps it's an accuracy/defense issue (my acc is 250)? To tell you the truth, it works so often I assumed it was near 100% chance, save for those that just don't kd. Gimme some mob names, I'll go try it myself, I'm curious now

Well personally and 80cl+ things, if I am in melee I am in trouble. As a pistoleer we get recon armor which is weak against kinetic damage... thusly most melee attacking in PvE. It's a dangerous move to try vs Krayts, Kimos, Nightsisters, Ancient Rancors, Gorax, Blacksun, Deathwatch, SBDs, Battle Droids, Enhanced Kwis, Enhanced Klikniks, Acklays and DJM/DJKs. Anytime I have gotten in melee range with these, the results have been nasty for me.

Well I have dropped and picked Dancer back up many times. I have been CL 80 with Master Pistoleer|Master Smuggler|Rifleman 4xx4 and Master Commando|Master Smuggler|Rifleman 4xx4. During Respec I had M Carbs|M Smuggler. Never had problems with advanced fire arm strikes KD.
I have to admit I am not bold about letting creatures get in range without Panic shot or Concussion shot to jam their attacks if need be. Also I have the luxury of FD, when it works
Then again I always kept regen drink|food and mitigation food in my toolbar for quick wolfing. Not to mention Ruby B and Stim D.
As a straight pistoleer for a melee creature I might imp disarming shot right as they closed, KD with firearm strike, hit them with your best special while running away immediately follow that with imp stopping shot. I wouldn't be shy about wolfing food or drink from the toolbar either. Some of the food and drink out there are real deal breakers.
If you don't know a lot about food and drink, bookmark this and learn it:

lol, I like firearm strike a lot too, but the fact remains that there is no reason for me to have the advanced skill (other than being a stepping stone to higher tiered skills and mods) when compaired to the basic skill granted in marksman.

Mine very rarely fails, if it fails it's usually because I'm trying to do it after someone else has just KD'd them. I'm Master Pistoleer & Master CM

If you want some hate tells try M Smuggler, MCM, and Pistoleer xxx4. Low blow with Improved Thyroid Rupture is nice.

Pistoleer should be the ony Ranged profession (sans BH) that can fight without accuracy penalties at point-blank range. We have only a 35m range. Carbines have 50, and Rifles have 60. but at least Rifles have a small Accuracy penalty up close.

No... but neither does Carbines, from what I can tell.
