Master Pistols, Master Combat Medic, BH 0040
I lead with a ranged poison or fire DOT, then underhand shot for a KD. I make sure to land a thyroid rupture (speed debuff)and possibly the other fire or poison DOT while they're down. From there the sky's the limit as far as states go with all the CM stuff i can do. If they heal, i can land confusion shot. I might do that anyway.
I'd love to see some other MP/MCM template suggestions. I just finished the this template minus the remaining skill points and I'm unsure as to what I should spend them on. It seems that the two choices are either BH or Doc. Any other suggestions? I'm leaning towards Doc right now but I feel like I need more damage output and BH should help there.

I loved this template for the defense, insane amounts of it. I believe the most viable template if you want to tank as a ranged fighter. Both melee and ranged defenses go into the mid 500's, andgeneral accuracy and speed get a boost from the tactics tree. The extra abilitiesfrom SL are lessglorious than other combinations, but if you hunt in groupsor with a droid, Volley Fire will add 15% to your damage output. This template holds its own against healing or damage templates with its damage mitigation, allowing you to last a long time with good armor.

The lure of this template is damage from Leg Shot and snare from Crippling Shot. Alternating between Adv Crit and Imp Leg gives you the highest damage combination possible. Stopping Shot, Crippling Shot, Underhand/Charge Shot make you unbeatable against a melee opponent. All in all, a very popular and very effective template.
Adding Combat Medic to MBH/MP will let yousurvive through healing, adding Squad Leader will let yousurvive through damage mitigation (you can stand toe-to-toe with a melee opponent and feel safe), and adding Carbineer will let you survive through never being hit (soloing Krayt/Gorax/DJM without ever being touched).

Very nice support profession, you can help groups very well.
You have a powerful snare, a root, two dazes, you can heal the group and yourself very well plus you have all the pistoleer stats you can apply. Damage output is not great but decent.
I (and the guys I usually fight with) do really like this very group oriented template.

Only major problem I ever run into with this is that with my current FWG5 I pull aggro like a fiend, since 99% of the time I'm outdamaging everyone in my group including BH's and Mrifleman. And well, I don't take a hit so good so I've gotten really quick at using my FD to keep myself alive. Other than that though I'm really happy with this combo. And I gotta say, the lag-o-tron Launcher pistol from Novie. Commando's really nice for laying down states in a large group.
My dreamy DE-10 converted to a mere shadow of its former self, bolts no longer were Blue but the cheesy Red ones. But i came back thanks to some friends when RotW came out! So i have spent the last months now relearning my template post-CU, and now when they dropped Master Marksman as requirment for i finally went Smuggler. Its not the same as it once was cause i always wanted to dabble in the Smuggler Profession pre-CU for the KD, Intimidate Shot and the most damaging Pistol Special. Now its pritty much defencive.
Something quick and simple to say about Smuggler 4000 (Underground IV)is:
ConcussuinShot you get at Novice Smuggler is very handyforControl. The 20sec mezz makes it easier to fight more then one target at once, taking one "out of the game" when you rip the other one apart and when fighting more then two Melee people, you can ConcussionShot one, StoppingShot one so those two are out of " temerary service"

My current BH template is Master BH / Master Pistols / Master Marksman / Novice Rifleman / Carbines x/1/x/x
I keep a supply of Stim D's on hand for healing. I don't PvP so I have no idea how this would work in that environment.
