After seeing so many questions about templates I wanted to compile a list of popular ones. Feel free to reply with any I have missed out or comment on how you template works.


This is a work in progress at the moment and I will edit it as your posts come in.



Out of interest, does anyone have Master Pistols and Master Fencer, Master Pikeman or Master Swordsman?


Master Bounty Hunter (Assault Armor) and Master Pistoleer (SP left - 52)

The primary boon of adding MBH to any ranged template is the extra defenses coupled with a decent amount of extra offensive abilities, both in skill mods and raw specials. You're able to inflict all states, can boost your defenses into the mid-400 range (before foods or skill tapes, or the 52 other SP you have left) aswell as an assortment of offensive specials such as critical shot, torso shot and underhandshot (ranged KD!). The fact that you also gain access to the bounty-hunter terminals and all the fun there's to be had from those is also a bonus.

Master Bounty Hunter, Master Marksman, Carbineer 0300 - Dragon942 : While lacking any healing ability, this template has good defense and the most ridiculous offensive stats you've ever seen.


Master Bounty Hunter, Master Marksman, Rifles4000, Medic0010 - Dragon942 : you already basically have this template listed but with carbines instead of rifles. This template will net 5 less General Ranged accuracy and give you improves headshot instead of improved legshot (slightly less damage modifier), but makes up for it with the addition of advanced snipershot and most importantly a boat load of Rifle Accuarcy versus 0 rifle accuracy. Since this template is designed for using a pistol, you might need to switch to a longer ranged weapon if the target is further than 35m. In this case you would want to use a laser rifle as it has the best stats for a non-master weapon and the max 65m range. With this template you will proficient use of this weapon instead of relying soley on GRA.


Combined with an HE Bio shirt, this is the template I currently use. Before that I used the MP/MCarbs/Novices template you have mentioned which is a great crowd control template and has great offensive stats, but relies on the CC abiliteis in lieu of defense or healing (so it wasn't good against jedi).







Master Combat Medic (Battle Armor) and Master Pistoleer (SP left - 52)

Master Combat medic goes a long way to helping Pistoleer fulfil its attack control role, the combat speed debuff and state resist debuff means that when you land intimidate the target has about a 60% damage output reduction.


Couple that with great heals and Electrolyte Drain for kiting melee, this is a great template for solo and group play.


The only downside is the relatively low defences.

Master Combat Medic, Master Pistoleer, Bounty Hunter 0310.


Master Combat Medic, Master Pistoleer, Doctor 0004, Combat Prowess 0400 - BadgerSmaker - Buffs! Health, Action and Mind increases in total and regen rate, but the real reason for this line is Imp. Adrenal Boost. Currently due for a nerf from +40 Combat speed to +25, this buff allows you to fire extremely quickly and brings Pistoleer into a damage dealing role. You can also heal wounds and buff others.


Master Combat Medic, Master Pistoleer, Doctor 0004, Senses 0004 - doozerFIG : It was a sad day when post-cu i decided to give up being a long time rifleman, but pistoleer is undoubtedly the best compliment to combat medic. It's important to stay tighter to the target to dot and debuff, which was more difficult with rifleman. My typical strategy against a high end mob is kite and use high damage high action cost specials until almost drained, root, dot the target while regaining action, rinse and repeat. I offset the lower accuracy with ranged accuracy experimented crispic, boost defenses with melee defense food and sometimes a squad leader. I outfit my toon with the +10 range arm to make kiting a touch easier, and switch to the ALR when things start going south. A great choice for the loot whoring alt, and a great choice for pvp as well to give your group the edge with buffs, area attacks, and debuffs.


Master Combat Medic, Master Pistoleer, Doctor 4000 - Death_Blossom : In a group, this template is pivotal for success. Keeps tanks healed with multiple heals, great crowd control with ability to remove multiple targets from combat, able to tank if needed, and has multiple damage outputs. When solo, I can survive against pretty much most high end mobs (Nightsisters, Gorax, Rancors...) thru kiting, rooting,and landing debuffs. Downside to this build is slightly lower defenses, pistoleer specials only, and has the tendency to be a hate magnet.


Master Combat Medic, Master Pistoleer, Bounty Hunter0111, Medic 0410 - Tele_hoe : This template gives you the added benefit of having the three of the good BH specials, the only thing it's missing is bleed. The KD is invaluable for kiting melee mobs, and as you can use it while kneeling or prone (unlike Charge shot) it works well for Ranged Mobs as well. Crit shot and Eye shot have their obvious benefits as well, and you get the added defenses from the Dirty Tricks tree. The extra healing effeciency makes a difference as well, though it will be the first thing to go once I start going up FS.

Summary by Bewary


I AM crowd control. With a wide selection of inate AOE weapons and a nice AOE special for those weapons that don't have radius it leads to some truly jaw dropping, crowd stopping combos. Things like stoppingshot with a 6m radius at 64m with the proton rifle, or fanshot with the rocketlauncher for a ranged AOE kd.

Master Commando, Master Pistoleer, Novice Smuggler, Combat Medic 0002 - Bewary - With the inclusion of nov smuggler ( concussion)you now have 2 independant "stops" to use, one which breaks on dmg and one which doesn't. Now add on a little CM for a speed debuff and a snare and you can solo almost anything as well as heal friends and allies with reasonable competance.


This combo comes with a HUGEset of toolsand an even larger number of ways to combine them. Nasty tricks abound.

I was Master Pistols / TKM pre-cu. I've been told that cross-breed templates such as that are not viable now. How viable is Pistols / TK post-cu? I'd be looking at a PVP and PVE scenario.

That's a pretty good description.


I'd also like to add a couple of template variations to MP/MBH:


MP/MBH/MMarksman/Carbines0300 - While lacking any healing ability, this template has good defense and the most ridiculou soffensive stats you've ever seen.


MP/MBH/Rifles4000/Medic0010 - you already basically have this template listed but with carbines instead of rifles. This template will net 5 less General Ranged accuracy and give you improves headshot instead of improved legshot (slightly less damage modifier), but makes up for it with the addition of advanced snipershot and most importantly a boat load of Rifle Accuarcy versus 0 rifle accuracy. Since this template is designed for using a pistol, you might need to switch to a longer ranged weapon if the target is further than 35m. In this case you would want to use a laser rifle as it has the best stats for a non-master weapon and the max 65m range. With this template you will proficient use of this weapon instead of relying soley on GRA.


Combined with an HE Bio shirt, this is the template I currently use. Before that I used the MP/MCarbs/Novices template you have mentioned which is a great crowd control template and has great offensive stats, but relies on the CC abiliteis in lieu of defense or healing (so it wasn't good against jedi).

If I may...


Master commando / Master pistoleer ( 52 sp left)


With the remaining 52 sp I've grabbed nov smuggler and 0/0/0/2 CM.



I AM crowd control. With a wide selection of inate AOE weapons and a nice AOE special for those weapons that don't have radius it leads to some truly jaw dropping, crowd stopping combos. Things like stoppingshot with a 6m radius at 64m with the proton rifle, or fanshot with the rocketlauncher for a ranged AOE kd. With the inclusion of nov smuggler ( concussion)you now have 2 independant "stops" to use, one which breaks on dmg and one which doesn't. Now add on a little CM for a speed debuff and a snare and you can solo almost anything as well as heal friends and allies with reasonable competance.


This combo comes with a HUGEset of toolsand an even larger number of ways to combine them. Nasty tricks abound.

Another template.

MCM/MP BH 0111 Medic 0410 - This template gives you the added benefit of having the three of the good BH specials, the only thing it's missing is bleed. The KD is invaluable for kiting melee mobs, and as you can use it while kneeling or prone (unlike Charge shot) it works well for Ranged Mobs as well. Crit shot and Eye shot have their obvious benefits as well, and you get the added defenses from the Dirty Tricks tree. The extra healing effeciency makes a difference as well, though it will be the first thing to go once I start going up FS.

Master Combat Medic, Master Pistoleer, Doctor 0004, Senses 0004 is my alt's template, similar to badger's.

It was a sad day when post-cu i decided to give up being a long time rifleman, but pistoleer is undoubtedly the best compliment to combat medic. It's important to stay tighter to the target to dot and debuff, which was more difficult with rifleman. My typical strategy against a high end mob is kite and use high damage high action cost specials until almost drained, root, dot the target while regaining action, rinse and repeat. I offset the lower accuracy with ranged accuracy experimented crispic, boost defenses with melee defense food and sometimes a squad leader. I outfit my toon with the +10 range arm to make kiting a touch easier, and switch to the ALR when things start going south.

A great choice for the loot whoring alt, and a great choice for pvp as well to give your group the edge with buffs, area attacks, and debuffs.
