mistake 1: rep. blaster, it's not very good in pvp...min damage too low
mistake 2: don't give up on the intimidate, IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STATE EFFECT you can ever put on someone.
secondly 10 to 12 HS for 10% of his health is not that bad, do you expect a fight to only last 30s? I had 1v1 duels last up to an 45m!
Get a good Geo, good krayted DX2, always intimidate (you can get e BE shirt for +12 intimidate or so) ans stun.
With your pistol speed HS2 of fanshot are the preferred shots (I actually have two Geo's, one 1.4s for spamming last ditch, one 1.8 but almost twice as powerfull for HS2)
better yet...go triple master and read that guide

get yourself a pistol with a mind poison or fire of atleast 150 per tick . if you cant afford to buy one then camp the geo caves until you loot one ( they also drop of mobs on the corvette ) . also save up and get pistol speed skill tapes , it does wonders for your damage per second . at the end of the day with the right equipment you will beat people with other templates though the second you are up against someone who is well prepared and well equiped and knows what they are doing it will be tough to beat them because pistoleer is one of the weakest combat professions ( also creature handler is worthless for pvp ).

I have seen my pistols do mind damage when I get a headshot in. You know, on the screen when your fighting, right arm, left arm, headshot, that kind of thing. So I know occasionally we hit the mind pool. It's not intentional, but we do.

IT still comes down to skill though for a big part. I am TKM/ Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler,
the last few days I've beaten the following in duels:
M. Fencer/CM something
M Rifle/TKM w/pharma IV
TKM/M Swordsman
Fencer/carbineer
...
I thought I almost beat one of the best pvp'ers on our server who is M.doc/M Fencer (and believe me when I say this guy is good)
I seem to get most damage in with my pistols though
It is very important to pay attention though...as a fight can be decided in mere seconds (watch to damage you do to him...if it rises his synthsteak/psg went poof, how much mind does his COB cost? (-> you can actually somewhat derive his mind substats from this).
some examples: fighting my guildie rifleman/TKM medic had to cope with a thrusterhead downer and PB was gone, leaving my mind at well under 1k, I just stalled him all the way through the downer with warcry/panicshot, kiting when he went melee, keeping state effects on him all the time.... I also had to cope with a pixie downer during that fight doh!
(just wanted to say that this guys is one of the better PVP'rs on Tempest too)
it seems a lot of people fear spice for it's downer...I use it all of the time (I ALWAYS carry Pixie, Muon, Booster and Thrusterhead) No self respecting Gunfighter should leave home without booster blue (absolutely the best pistoleers spice when unbuffed)
the fencer/doc had a crue intimidate macro running, (took me 30s to notice this
took some damage in that time)
I also tried to keep him blind/stunned/dizzy al the time, but mainly did: /intimidate; /intimidate; /healthshot2; /healthshot2...
Keeping him intimidated, thus upping the damage I did to him BUT more importantly stealing his combat turns (as his macro kept healing it) after a little while he dumped the macro....took me toooooo long to notice
(could have put more damage in)
My downfall was a freaky mindlaps...I kinda forgot docs can heal themselves lol... but If i had used fanshot or lastditch I would have stood a good chance.
another good tactic is wearing your opponent out...synthsteak and PSG's don't live forever...once they go it's a whole new ballpark
There are even tactics to make sure you get minimal damage (meaningwhen KD (but I choose not to reveal them ATM as I don't see anyone else doing it lol, don't want to loose the small edge I have).
It takes a long time to get good at fighting...apparently I did it pretty fast (only playing since jan or feb or so)....but that's because I went over fights over and over, and thought up new techniques when insomnia struck me.
Of yea...one more very important thing: get some sparring partners!!!!!! usually kind guildies who don't mind standing there /peaced while you try everything on em to see how it works... (lol just like I spent an hour being a Zabrak testing site when the detonation droids came out)
Thing keep popping up in my mind.....
Food: if you have the money, try to time taking food as effecient as possible: take 1 brandy + one Arisha, another brandy 15-20m later and so on...with decent brandy you have a nice window where you are on 3 brandies...
I can boost my mind pretty high like this: 1000 (base) + 500 (powerboost) + 3*407= 1221 (3 brandies) + 600 (Thrusterhead) = 3.3k mind without dancer buff
For food I carry: Brandy/canape/arisha/vercupti/thakillo/blue milk/spiced tea/travel biscuits/that dodge food/accuracy food
one more just popped up: dots I only have a mod rep. blaster and a geo with a 74s mind poison...I tend to use these most oncde I've done some damage to health and/or mind, just to make sure my opponent can't regenerate it too easy
oh yea KEEEEEEEEP YOOOOOOUR OOOOPOOOONEEEENT IIIINTIIIIIIMIIIDAAAATED! (can't repeat that often enough)
