Thread: If we end up without a ranged KD, **edit**?
"(a master plumber doesn't mean hes the best plumber in the world, it means he no longer is a journeyman in an apprenticeship program)."
Um, the guy said that Master Pistoleers should be the best CLASS with pistols. So a master plumber would indeed be better at fixing toilets than say a janitor.
As a side note, panic shot is #$@#$@#$%#@%
so I can run, but can't shoot and can't fire. Sweet, how long can u spam that for? Forever? Super.

Seeing how my brother is a plumber, and knowing how the union BS works in the blue collar industry, it wouldnt surprise me in the least if a janitor could fix a toilet better than a "master" plumber. The point of my statement was that the title is bestow upon those who simply meet a certain requirement in the trade. It has very little to do with the skill of, in this case, plumbing. Since this concept seems too confusing to people I'll just repost the ingame description of master pistoleer and you show me where it says "master pistoleers are the best at using a pistol".
Master Pistoleer - The master pistoleer has gained significant improvements in short-range firearms along with a series of special abilities for nearly every situation.
Why take the ranged KD away? thats bs... why spend 5million+ xp pistol exp for:
double tap: randomHAM shot
disarming shot 1: random HAM shot
stopping shot: random HAM shot
fan shot: random HAM shot
point blank single 2: random HAM shot with no penelty
point black area 2: same as above
chest shot: the only skill that is somewhat different... hits only health(which by far is the hardest to kill ppl by)
then a multitarget shot that doesnt work
WHY get all that when someone with eyeshot(bout 400-500k xp) or torsoshot ( about 1.1mill xp) that can use a pistol which can probably hit for around 300-500 cause of the nice stats will own you everytime even without a KD. oh and here's the kicker... spend about 400-500k xp and you can own any master pistoleer with panicshot and/or lowblow
A Master pistoleer can get owned by any advanced BH or adv smuggler. Our skills are all random HAM shots that can do some good damage and the only shots that are different are a HEALTH only shot and a broken AE shot... hell if you get BH with eyeshot he can outdamage any pistol a pistoleer can get and a smuggler can own a master pistoleer without get hit LOL way to balance the pvp system.
Sounds like you should become an expert bounty hunter or smuggler.

Ok, when was the last time you consulted a family doctor who did not have a Ph.D? Who would you trust more for medical advice: yourhigh school biology teacher neighbor oryour doctor? Your argument is flawed because you're viewing titles as some arbitrarily assigned factor that is independent of anything else. However, the main thing you're missing, is titles are -usually-earned with experience, so if the standard use of titles is employed (ie earned titles), then you can generally imply that master pistoleers are in fact the best at using a pistol OVER OTHER PROFESSIONS. Now before some pro-BH comes in here and starts flaming, I'm not saying Pistoleers should kill BH's all the time, but BH's speciality is in killing with whatever means necessary, not in shooting a pistol.
So whether or not you'll admit it, titles do play a role. You've taken hold over a minorexceptionhoping it unravels everything, but it doesn't, because 90% of the time, titles imply experience, and experience implies greater skill or competence at a trade. This especially applies to the more advanced trades. You want to build a new house and need someone to design blueprints? Do you just go around asking random people on the street? No, you look for a "Civil Engineer", because his title implies he specializes in the field, therefore he generally will be the best there is (once again, compared to people from other professions). Who do you think Intel or AMD have working in their labs? You guessed it, "Electrical Engineers". Sure maybe a sanitary technician out there can design blueprints and build processors, but who do you think would be better at the job, the people who specialize in it, and spend years in school and in the field pursuing it, or the other guy?
Pistoleers should be the best class with pistols. That does NOT necessarily translate to Pistoleers should be the best PvP'er or PvE'er, but if you spend years screwing around with a pistol and you earn your title through training, you WILL be the best at it. So if titles are earned through a system of practice and education, then they do translate directly into skill.
Titles of "master" do not necessarily translate directly into the practical application of their skills in every situation. For example, an olympian marksman might hit a quarter mid air while a cop might not. Thats not to say that that olympian would fair as well killing a human being in an urban setting. A master pistoleer (defined simply as a user of pistols) does not inherently become the end all be all of pistol users in the realm of killing other people.
A bounty hunter on the other hand explicitly "eliminates almost any opponent". Given that one of his 3 weapons is a pistol, the usage of that weapon in regards to killing other PC/NPCs should be of greater efficiency than someone who has "gained significant improvements in short-range firearms".

ROFL you totally lost me. Are you saying your brother is a sorry arse plumber? Or are you saying that the janitor should have been a plumber instead? What in the world does the Union have to do with being good at a skill?
And this part.

So exactly what are you saying? I just wanna get clear on this. If someone takes the time and learns the skills, takes some sort of test of said skills and he achieves the title "Master plumber" in this case. He in fact can still be a sh*tty plumber?
And quoting the descriptions in the skill tree does you no good. All those things are in correct right now anyway.
Since there is no mechanic that represents that psychology you speak of, professions have to pick up that slack. If not, any class that uses a pistol would be just as proficient as the next. Also since a bounty hunter's profession involves the killing of npcs he'd be more naturally suited to hit their weaknesses. Since this game involves very little skill in the actually placement of shots (ie you cant forcibly aim for aby particular area) the specials associated with a profession have to reflect the nature of the prey that that profession deals with regularly.
