Thread: 2 Pistols use

I agree that dual wielding pistols would be cool, but I would imagine they would make it for looks only. What I mean by that is they would cut the damage each pistol is capable of in half if you dual wield or something like that. The reasoning behind what I'm saying is that I'm already seeing pistols un-power uped, unsliced, that have a higher dps than their rifle/carbine counterparts. Not to mention, if you slice/powerup, you get to do it twice which gives you double the pleasure.

Just my thoughts and they don't count for much

By the way, in case anyone was interested in the pistol I'm speaking of, a certain artisan on Bloodfin is making 48-102 dmg 2.2 speed 11/23/11 Scout blasters.

There will not be Dual Wielding of ANYTHING in this game for a very long time. LET ME SAY THIS AGAIN: There will not be Dual Wielding of ANYTHING in this game for a very long time.

The dev's announced this in some developer chat sometime in the past year (I forget if it was the 2nd or 3rd from the last) and I BELIEVE also on a HyperdriveRadio appearance. The reason for this has NOTHING to do with game mechanics, but with computer mechanics. Essentially it's Waaaaaaaayyyyy too much work. You see, every posture with a gun in your hand is, of course a rendered motion capture thing. If they do dual wielding then they have to do ALL of it over again, for EVERY specie. Now, before every one comes up with a million half-baked ideas of how to work around that, I'm sure there are a few ways to cut corners, but regardless the drawing and coding time is severe. It's also why everyone shoots with the same hand. Yeah, I'd love to go Chow Yun Fat in this game too. It's awesome. But they announced loooong ago that this wasn't going to happen. At least no where in the forseeable future. That's why there is no dual wielding. It's not a balance thing at all (PnP RPG's balance it with a sizeable hit to accuracy, which is, I imagine how they would do it here, as Shug Ninx has worked on, in some way or another the Star Wars RPG, and Raph is an RPG proficient in all it's forms). So there ya go. Sorry, kids.

I like the dual wielding idea, but indeed both pistols would have to have their damage cut in half or accuracy cut in half. So some might ask? What would be the purpose of dual pistols. The answer is simple. It would allow you to do damage whilst simultaneously using an attack that gives you an advantage while not very damaging. Example would be healthshot. This attack doesn't do any damage but rather makes the target bleed. If at master pistoleer dual wielding was allowed, it would give the pistoleer a slight advantage in that they could bleed their target while also doing a bit of damage w/ the 2nd pistols (half of the pistols regular bodyshot damage or whatever attack you use). This same thing would apply to any other non-damaging attack and would also give a slight advantage in that you could do2 non damaging attacks in one turn (i.e. healthshot + suppression fire). As far as both pistols doing max damage. Well I"m going for pistoleer and I woudlnt' even like that. Nothing is fun if its not a challenge.

So what if you cut the damage by half? It would look awesome, and be a good reward for making it that far. Also, this is fantasy. So what if you have two? Look at John Woo movies, gunslingers, Neo, and even that movie Equilibrium. Having pistol in each hand is 10 times as cool as weilding one.

As far as the animation it'd be the same complexity as giving a guy new dodges or attacks, or a dancer doing more dances. Instead of running around with one gun up, you'd have two. Big deal. The rendering could be done.

I belive they will never implement this or if they will, much later in the future.

First: Many bugs and other problems atm, they need to fix some things before they add more stuff on.

Second: 2 Pistols are broken, way overpowered, heck 1 pistol is better then a carbine or a rifle atm.

Third: Skill use, since the HAM on Pistols is way lowered and the reload is much faster then the other 2 weapons, then they could use skills like mad.

Im not saying that Pistols need to be nerfed, they just need to bring Rifles and Carbines up to code and equality.

If they did it in the 1850's i think they could do it Star war's. I mean bounty hunters do get like 160 pistol skill while we get like 100 roflmao.

how about instead of being so selfish, give pisstoleers duel weild, but then INCREASE damage done by riflemen and carbineers. remember, only the pistoleer would get this, so the regular pistol weilder would not until pistoleer. if you give more damage to riflemen and carbiners, no new guns, new 'damage cuts.' problem solved, shut up about it.

The reason pistol is stronger than rifle is because rifle can be used at a range that protects the user from counter-attack. Therefor while a pistol is **edit** strong up close, the user is more vulnerable. That's the trade-off. If you're fighting in the open, like on Tattooine, you can shoot targets from so far away that the target never even comes after you, or if they do, they have to run so far they never get the chance to get their claws into you. Pistol doesn't have that advantage. Almost anytime someone opens up with a pistol, they can expect the fight to get close and dirty.

Sure yes Jango Fett used Dual Pistols, but in the end did that keep his head on?

But if you up the damage of the weapons that means you can kill mobs more easily, that means they have to make all the mobs more powerful.

and with dual wielding you could cast 2 skills at once, 2 body shots at once and both firing at a fast rate ack.

Put this to rest till the devs figure out what to do about needing to first REVAMPING the classes and fixing bugs.
