3 - 0 - 4 - 3 pistoleer. I can kill groups of Stormtroopers fairly easily.

When I was a 0 0 3 2 pistoleer I could kill them singly, easily enough. They con red to me but I can kill them.

Perhaps you arent very good?

As a master pistoleer (imperial) I can take on the rebel equivalent of the stormtrooper, if you cna not take on a single stormtrooper then you are not playing your character to teh best of your abilities. As for getting killed by a mercenary on Lok, whats your point?Somethings in this game are not soloable. Period. If everything was soloable and you were in god mode, then the whole point of a MMORPG is gone. If you want to be a god, then go play a console game in god mode. The ability to tell your own story is the group you build around you, your support base. Please, name one person in any star wars movie (you know what the game is based on?) that was able to solo everything.

/nod...

I don't think he realizes Lok is classified as an adventure planet, and because of that, there are going to be some harder mobs...

The reason you get Stallowned by them is because that uber cdef pistol you looted off of him can consistantly stopping shot you for over 3k.

Since they have the ability to insta-kill you now with thier specials they should be given the same HAM system as we are. 3000 - 3200 max (they're buffed of-course).

If NPCs had that type of max, we could kill them in 2 seconds. Give them resists? Most have it. Give them higher resists? That's exactly the same as giving them more HPs. Give them a better ability to dodge, counterattack, block, etc? That's exactly the sameasgiving them more HPs. They all prolong the battle.

Personally, I always thought SWG would be more fun and interesting if the combat system was more like Ghost Recon or Ranbow Six. One good burst and your dead. Then your personal skill and tactics will be moreimportant.

I would like to know what you're using. Armor, buffs and such. Try killing some with out armor and buffs.

PS amyone who says "well why don't you just get buffed and shut up?" You're missing the point. I shouldn't HAVE to do that just for some NPC lackies. There should be no way an NPC lacky is stronger than a player with a MASTER combat profession. I'm not spending 3k just to go out and kill things unless I'm fighting something fairly big and worthwhile.

It's not really the fact that the NPC owned you. You probably could've killed him, but he just killed you faster. Either that or you just really suck at Pistoleer. If you're unbuffed your HAM is probably about 1000 or so. Your opponent on Lok probably has 10k HAM. One special shot from him and you're dead. I'm not surprised that he owned you in 3. Get novice medic. Your "Master" title doesn't make you invulnerable to getting hit in combat. It will allow you to deal more damage faster, and might make you less likely to be hit. My dodge modifier is maxed out and sometimes a mob will hit me 3 times in a row. It's all based on a dice roll.

I used to be like you. I was against buffs and armor. I thought that being a master you shouldn't have to get buffed and armored up just to go hunting, blah blah blah...But the simple fact is that buffs and armor will get you that loot and big xp that you want. Being unbuffed will get you killed. Without buffs, you'll kill yourself anyway just spamming specials. With buffs you can take out liars in an 8th of the time it takes without them. And that means you can make the moneyback a matter of minutes. And besides, when you're buffed, the game is a lot more fun because you don't have to worry about healing yourself every 4 seconds or getting hit by an uber special from that "lackey" NPC that will one shot kill you.

Examine your target. Identify his weakness and equip the best gun you can afford that will exploit that weakness.

Get to your ideal range and /kneel

quickly queue up

/suppressionfire 1
/kipupshot

This should take the mob down by 1000 HAM.

Once you're kipup has fired off run towards the now kneeling stormtrooper using body shot 2 as you do.

Once you're moving his decreased accuracy and your dodge should keep you out of most of harms way. If you were at ideal range you should have fired of 3 bodyshots by the time you come face to face with the stormtrooper. His range is now even more screwed by the fact you're at his point blank range and since they don't use pistols he's got nothing against you. If you haven't seen this coming a mile off, pistol whip him once or twice to knock him down. Continue using bodyshot.

By this point I've usually been hit once, maybe twice, but he's now on the floor and you just bought yourself 5 seconds in which you can land another 5 body shots.

When he does stand up he should have no more then a third of his health left and more then likely only a quarter. This is running time.

Charge backwards continuing with body shots as you go, stim up if you need to. When the mob is down to his last sliver of health finish him with a stopping shot. Go loot his corpse.

I do this regularly wearing a padded chestplate, 2 padded biceps and ubese legs. In the 30% range.

Use things like walls to your advantage, because if you run around a wall you can hold off for a few seconds till he walks to you, when he comes round the corner he's in melee range and you can knock him down again.

Being a master pistoleer does not give you the ability to stand toe-to-toe with an armoured soldier, spamming your best special over and over.

I've been playing since the begining of this game. I know for a fact that the mercs you are talking about are hard, well they are hard with no armor or buffs anyways. Its actually not that hard to understand, the npc's were obviously more prepared than you. They had armor and buffs. You didnt so you should lose....isnt that how it works?

Look at it this way, when your a Master Pistoleer your combat level is around 30-35. The Merc you were attacking was probably the same level. However he has buffed stats and armor, you didn't. In PvP you would be dead meat, why wouldn't this be the same?

**edited comment**

btw, whose to say this Merc isn't a Master Pistoleer as well. I've had Mercs do Pistoleer specials on me (in fact one did a special worth 2k when I had bone armor...those were the days lol), so saying you should win because your a Master as well wont mean anything if he has the same skills as you.

DO you know what color the rebel "equivalent" to stormies is to me? Light blue. That's right. Rebel "equivalents" aren't.

We don't have time to discuss this in a committee.
