Thread: buffed vs quenkers... how long from novice to master?
Just spam HealthShot1 at a savage quenker one time, while prone. It's more damage per second. I'm not lying. No one ever thinks it's possible that the shot you get at Pistol IV is more DPS than everything but FanShot (and then only with multiple targets) until Master. For the person getting 4 per lair, you're blowing the lair too quickly because of FanShot. Two are spawned at arrival. Drop them from prone with HealthShot1. The first one will die before getting to you, I assure you. The second one may get to you if it was close enough to aggro as the first one finally noticed you. (I often kill the first one before it even "sees" me, meaning the other could be standing next to it and ignore me.)
Then plink the lair one time. I actually Stopping Shot it just so I can see a big hit, but peace right after the damage hits. Two more quenkers will spawn, one at a time. You'll probably kill the first one before the second spawns.
After killing both, blast the lair down to about half. Personally I just blast it till one spawns (meaning it will be aggro) but you can get a feel for when to stop after a lair or two. Kill those two spawns then blow the lair. If you're lucky, "a terrible quenker" will spawn at the end, it's got more HAM, roughly the same XP still. I've met four people now that are FanShot fanatics on Scylla, so I grouped with them, and timed myself blowing a lair versus them blowing a lair. They got hit five times as much as me, and I finished my lair faster, except for the guy that blew the lair prematurely, only getting 4 kills.
Every one of them is a HealthShot1 fanatic now.
FanShot has x4.0 dmg at x2.4 dly, while HealthShot1 is x2.0 dmg at x1.0 dly. Already, the DPS is obviously better. Then factor in that FanShot is random pool, and HealthShot1 has a much faster kill time. There's also more risk involved with FanShot, because you have multiple things chasing you. Lag, unlucky pop nearby, terrain, fat-fingers, these are all complications that happen all the time.
So just try it, for one lair. You'll have feel the same way I do: "Pistoleer is easier to level up than TKA, and I've mastered both." As a TKA I had to chase stuff and stay in range. Pistoleer I have to drive my swoop within 65m of the lair, collect my XP and credits, then move on.
