You mods and admins are drooling f*cking idiots. Let me get that out first before the lesson starts.

Jaegen

Jagen88

Brief lesson on elementary German and current "racialist" culture in America for you, since you probably don't get out much.

Jagen = German for to hunt, to chase, to shoot, to blow up (used in combo with a few other words), and other actions that sound really macho and ominous "oooooooooh! scary"

88 = Popular neo-nazi code for "Heil Hitler" as the 8th letter in the alphabet is "H" (that's right use your fingers) making 88 code (whip out your Captain Power decoder rings) for "HH" meaning "Heil Hitler!". As I doubt you'll believe that you are that stupid and uniformed feel free to go to any Neo-Nazi website or to the ADL's website and I am sure you will find information there referencing these numbers, which adorn T-shirts, record and CDcovers and websites anywhere bald white racial separatists/supremicists can be found spreading their misunderstood message of love and understanding. (sarcasm for the slow..keep up mods)

To add a little more yolk to the egg on your face his first post was bumped by "weaponmaster88" either himself on another account making fun of you and supporting himself with a positive post, or another of his lil coded buddies identifying himself..see the "winky" smiley as he thanks him by name? Sure ya do.

This is reasonably obvious to me within 30 seconds of logging on to your board, and I don't read it often, so I am sure anyone that is not culturally-retarded would catch it at least as fast, if not faster, as I am sure some of your regulars already have, and I guess see nothing wrong with it. You are the mods..you decide how to deal with this..before it blows up in your face (and more importantly in Sony's face..this is THEIR official boards right?). Don't fire the guy. He is trying to do a good job forfree, to make a game he and others like better. Not a prob. Your politics, religion, sexual preference, whatever is your business just don't smack in the face with it in a place I come to escape from it. Get thine zitty, sun deprived head outta thine pizza bloated @$$ and fix this. Ban me later. Fix this first.

P.S. If he changes his name to "Hammerskin" "Rahowa" "RandyWeaver" "LilAdolph" "Swastikapowah!" "BloodintheFace" "NobleAryan" or "JewKiller" you may want to check into that too. Just a headstart for ya.

That's quite an interesting post. It originally came from a character in a book, Jagen, (An Americanfantasy book, nothing sinister yet eh?)and since SWG keeps and locks the first name used, when I went back to try to give my Zabrak hair on release day 2 (Which as it turns out is only in-game...I thought I had just missed it), the name was locked. How do you keep your name without screwing around with a new one? Change a letter.

Jaegen which looked better than Jaygen, IMO. Of course I also have Jagen locked, which I'd prefer to switch back to, but I don't see them making extra effort here just for me. Although you can certainly ask them for me..that would be nice.

Well that name was taken here on this message board...as luck would have it, so I add a number, my favorite, 8 (chosen between 1-10, not 26 from some alpha-numeric code). Taken. Add another. DING! Have you not ever tried to use a specific name and end up with some number/letter garbage that you have to deal with since all else is taken?

Amazing how you'd think an American would have enough cultural diversity AND the capacity to be really improper by choosing a name some found offensive. I have neither.

But thanks for being understanding.

If, as you say this is one long string of coincidenceand misunderstanding, in which you innocently chose a name that appears to bea standard neo-nazi tag, why do you seem casually undisturbed by theappearance of affiliationwithwhat many consider at best a fringe, and at worst an unpatriotic and vile ideology? The answer to that is too close to personal business and I don't expect it to be answered. Maybe you are naturally a rebel and now refuse to give ground in the face of any implication, evenif it is misguided and false. Maybe you feel like your answer is good enough for general consumption. The reasons are without end and I'm sure one fits.

The defense that an American is incapable of developing such a name however,is simplistic and false fortwo reasons:

1. A large number of American neo-nazi's do it daily, clearly evident at their rallies and websites and any interaction with them in cyberspace. Many of these individuals display maybe half (usually less)of the intellect you appear to possess from your posts, so it is hardly too "clever" for you.

2. I am an American, though admittedly reasonably well travelled.

Like I said, politics and other personal business are none of my business (hence the word personal), provided that theyremain personal. I shouldn't know that the Mon-Cal Doctor inthe cantinanext to me is an Al-Qaeda sympathizer, or thatthe Wookie TKA tanking Tuskens is atranssexual midget. What I amirritated atprimarily is the usual nazi-like..erm..draconian naming policy applied by SOEbeing at best ill-thought out and reasonably ill-informed. Sure your name isn't blatantly insulting or spiteful..it is as subtle as tagging yourself DWGriffith or Mr. Akia or Mr. Ayak..but any youngerGerman customer, alot of Western Europeans, and plenty of Israeli customerscould see itas cause for question or alarm.I think you are a motivated and intelligent individual doing a good job for something you and other people like, this I won't deny. It is evident in your frequent interactions with the members of this particular profession's forum, and your apparent dedication to your post. However, as a person of thought, I do hope you, and the moderatorcamp givethis issue your concentration. Am I calling for a blitzkrieg of the forum user list to round up people that could be offenders and force them to change their names at gunpoint? Naah..too time consuming, they have a game to fix. I personally expected my post to be deleted by nowand you tobe happily going about your business with a new tag.

Greetings,

First off I would like to personally congratulate Jaegen on being the Pistoleer Correspondent. Now I am going to address the issue that Spicefiend has brought up, in regards to Jaegen88 being a racially offensive name. I checked the internet and while there is truth in what you say Spicefiend I don't honestly think that the intent was to have a racially offensive name. 88 according to Tolerance.org is used as a symbol for Heil Hitler, and Jagen is a German word for hunt, however I found nothing tying those words together. I also spoke with a friend of mine who is fluent in German and they found nothing offensive. Simply doing a web search on Jaegen returns nothing offensive, same with 88, pairing Jaegen and 88 returns nothing also. The only small thing I found was this quote;

According to Al Murdock, Site 1 NCOIC,

"About JAGEN 87: It's an 'Altdeutsch' (old German language) expression which means 'section 87. The word JAGEN generally applies to the hunt. The less popular application interprets to "one succeeding the other", as in Jagen 86, Jagen 87, Jagen 88, etc."

I see nothing wrong with Jaegen88 as a station name and as per his message to us he didn't intend for it to come across as if he was racist. I would like to thank you Spicefiend for trying to keep racism off of this board, however in this case I think we are in the clear.

I originally posted in smart alecky fashion, which was probably (okay definitely)less than constructive. I flung insults about like an irritated chimp flinging poo, and while amusing, it definitely took some of the seriousness away from a reasonably serious issue. To the mods and admins, sorry for letting attitude cause me to"lose my manners".

I honestly didn't expect to write a3rd post about this, butIguess it is necessary.A year ago around this time Target (the Walmart clone) had all 1,100 stores do arack clearing, because they had a series of sports wear..hats, shorts etc. all adorned with the number 88, no other number available..just 88. At the time they were unaware of the cultural signifigance of the number and it's use by hate groups to show adherence to their ideology. They started a now defunct education program to advise parents and schoolson how to recognize hate symbols and markings. Alot of reaction for a number on some sportswear hunh? Indicative of the potential of this particular number in some circles.

The number is widely used by neo-nazi's to identify themselves in cyberspace, and you obviously misunderstood me if you thought my implication was thatthe name plus the number was a specific I.D. The numberaloneis an identification, and the coincidence of another poster appearing in the thread I referenced with 88 is too much tobelieve. The word "Jagen" by itself is as harmless, as the word "Bratwurst" but the combination of a german word with a popular neo-nazi greeting/Identification device raised my level of suspicion a bit. if you need a clear example go to the "racialist" website "Stormfront.org" and check out the user list or any of the forums and you'll find a visual example that may better illustrate this for you.

I have lost interest in this honestly.I have tried to explain it, admittedly a little combatively, and that is all can do.Jagen mayvery wellbe unfairly attacked in this, and if so I apologize to him..hopefullyhelearned something too.But be aware, not everyone is blissfullyobliviouswhen it comes to racism and racists, and eventually someone(s) else could find the"88"a questionable addition to ascreen name. I've taken enough time from the pistoleer community with this. Jeassa I thank you for making at least a stab at research, though I'm not sure you fully understand, you have made some progress. Jagen if youhave beenunfairly attacked by me I apologize sincerely. From what I have seen so far you are good for the pistoleer community, which is good for the game. And that's what this is about. EVERYONE enjoying the game, free from the ugliness of RL at least for a fewhours.Unless specifically addressed on this, Ican't think of a reason to drag this topic out any further. Jeassathank you for your time. Pistoleers I apologize fordistracting your correspondent.

Spicefiend ,

No problem. I took it seriously and sent an inquiry to the moderators and offered to change my name if necessary. I have no attachment to the name, other than minus the numbers, it's the name I'm stuck with in-game and I like the continuity. Please note too, that if numbers are used frequently (they are) to differentiate names on forums, then the chances, when using two numbers in a row, of gettingeight followed by eight "randomly"is about 1/100 . Statistically speaking, it's going to happen...a lot.

Palinore, Ghostlion,

Very popular suggestions, I like them! They are only briefly mentioned in the lastet issues post ( I snuck them in there), only because they didn't quite make the top 5. However, you can expect that once the minor bugs/issues are cleared up, things on the bottom of the list will move up. That, and make sure you vote on issues when we post the vote I just tally them go with it, for the most part. I think some professions are getting serious overhauls (commando, for instance), so I suspect we'll have to sit tight for some of the "flavor" requests to be looked at, but that's to be expected and supported.
