I wrote a nice descriptive post on the wonders of modal chat on stratics:

No probs mate.

It really is the easiest way to play SWG.

For instance...

QWE, ASD and ZXC do all my doc/medic cures, pressing shift and the corresponding key uses the cure on my current target.

Num 1-3 is PMD1, Stopping Shot and MTPS

Num 1-6 is Suppression, HealthShot2 and Fan Shot.

Num 7-9 is Brandy, Milk and Canape

Num Enter is Clear Combat Queue and Heal.

Num Plus is queued heal.

Num - does cycle target out

Num * does cycle target in

Insert, Home, Delete and End all fire the different area and singe health and mind poisons I have using Shift and CTRL to fire A and B packs.

Then I've got all my guns in toolbar 1, along with a load of food, drink and drugs.

There are loads more macros bound to my keyboard but that gives you an idea how it all works out.

Good! I was sick of being tempted into believing its validity. Now that that temptation is removed, I can return to trolling.

LOL!!! That's so funny, because I haven't been playing SWG either recently since I finally broke down and got the expansions for NWN. Of course, right now I'm trying to actually finish the original campaign for once! Then the two expansions... and the CURB still won't be in beta when I'm done.

One thing, switching from type to chat and enter to chat takes a few days at least. You'll be hitting a few commands before you remember to hit enter.

Shouldn't be too hard. JTLS is all modal chat. You have to hit Return or the forward-slash ( / ) keyto chat in space. Before JTLS it would've been a challenge, but not now.

Edit: Oh, Nifty, I just started Chapter 2. I tried using a Bard/Harper Scout char with Tomi as my henchman, and just couldn't take Desther at all, so I created a new game and new character to do it differently. I am now Rogue 5/Assassin 4/Shadowdancer 1, and use Daelan as my henchman. Sad to say, I usually do better without him at all, lol. I can walk through almost anything. It's the most uberest I've ever played any game, and I'm loving it. I'm so cheap in NWN!

Thread hijack in progress...

I'm almost done with Chapter 2, just have Charwood left and to finish one of the sidequests. I went Elven Bard so I could get the Arcane Archer PrC. right now I'm Bard 8/Arcane Archer 4 and I switch around with Grimgnaw, Daelen, and Linu (I take her along when it's undead time, always nice to have a Cleric then, though wish I had made a Mace of Disruption for her in Ch 1.)

Question, have you downloaded and installed the Henchman AI upgrade scripts? If not these vastly increase the usability of your henchmen, plus it comes with some Monster AI tweaks which makes the game a little more difficult (I play on the real D&D rules setting). If you do get (or already have) the scripts make sure you turn on Wandering Monster AI. The mobs don't hang out in their little rooms anymore. They wander around, and you can end up fighting a LOT of critters at once. I definitely recommend getting this installed before taking on the Caves in the North Road area in Ch 2. I had a lot more fun going through those caves with the critters coming for us instead of waiting nicely in their individual chambers. Only bad thing when the mobs wanderis sometimes they tend to kill NPC's you want to rescue before you can get to them.

Back to the original thread...

Yeah, I think removal of armor piercing is a good thing overall. The way AP worked with vulnerabilities was silly anyways. You do more damage against Armor Rating of 0 with a 20% acidresist than you do against Armor Rating 0 with an acid vulnerability, or at least you did when Armor was explained by a Dev way back when.

Where do I go to DL that update, Nifty? I've looked around the BioWare site, but can't find it.

Hey, it's cool. I'm a NWN player too

I never got around to finishing the OCs because the user-made mods were more interesting. Some of them at least... most are pretty bad actually. It just goes to show that just because some peoplecan make their own games doesn't mean you should let them.

Er.. I mean, back on topic...

I thought that was a bug... You mean that still happens? Gosh another reason to like this Combat Revamp.

Ren, here is a link to the Henchman AI on nwvault.ign.com, if I remember how to do clickies right that is. You can find lots of cool script mods, art mods, and player modules at nwvault.

This is a player mod, actually a combination of several player mods. Up until about NWN version 1.29, I even had a script in that mod. Bioware finally fixed the issue so my workaround wasn't needed anymore. I still get credit in the readme, so I'm happy. Anyways, just run the exe, and select the stuff you want. All it does is unzips selectedscripts into your override folder. I strongly recommend Auldar's Henchman stuff in the mod, as that gets you Henchmen with better feat and skill progressions. Personally, I still modded Daelen and Grimgnaw myself, but that's just because I wanted Daelen to use a greatsword, and I wanted Grim to have circle kick and great cleave. Henchman inventory is great, so great that Bioware finally added it in, though I'm not suretheBioware oneworks in the OC, just in SoU and HoU. Any questions on this, feel free to ask.

As for the AP thing, I'm not sure it's still in the game, but by design, if you shot something that was vulnerable to your weapon, all AP vs armor rating was thrown out the window. It helps out low AP vs high armor, but it doesn't help out high AP vs low armor.
