Thread: Is Pistoleer alone a viable profession? No? I beg to differ

We could use a little bit more defense considering the range restriction, though. Riflemen seem about as likely to hit me point blank as they are at 60m. I haven't measured this, but I will when I can find a friendly duel to test this on.

Range accuracy by weapon and distance to target is something I would like a number set on. Its kinda wrong if a rifleman gets the same accuracy at 0m when their supposed to be long range combatants.

What did you use to solo a raged kimo lvl 82? What happened when your stopping shot ran out? I have trouble taking one down with two people. I cant think of anything else to do to solo one. I would be very interested in knowing how to do this? I have tried hundreds of combinations of special without any overwhelming success. I have a terrbile time of getting anything to stick, aside from root. Honestly, I need some pointers here.





They're quick, but I spent most of the time running trying to keep it out of range. When I managed to get a Stoppingshot to stick I'd lay on the damage. If I got tired, I'd just use my Ranged Shot to regenerate action. Of course, you do need a profession with more armor... and you need to be able to time your heals (if you have Doctor or CM). When you get the creature out of range and stopped, you can usually afford to use Bacta Infusion. If it gets too close and is laying on the hurt... Disarming Shot it to give you a break to heal and run. And you can continuously Disarm something while you wait for Stoppingshot to recharge. I'm finding it's also a very effective way to prolong combat with Jedi. Oh, and also, keep it Intimidated.


But in order for this to work properly.. you HAVE to turn off your Default action. If you fire a shot at it when it's Disarmed, Disarm wears off. Otherwise you can gain about 10 seconds of recouperation time. Oh, and having 1000+ Stims helps.

At the risk of repeating myself... Improved Electrolyte Drain from x/x/x/3 slows the targets combat speed for over a minute so you can safely kite it.

Ditto.


Master Pistoleer/Master Doctor with some Scout is all I have and L82 is not a problem.


I don't want to be the FotM BH/Rifleman. I dropped BH and took Doctor just so I could hove more fun and keep my Pistols abilities. I have no other damage output available to me, but I can kill mobs all night solo if I want to.


Perhaps the range is upsetting people, but Pistols are supposed to be closer range than rifles. I can pull something my own level at 34m with Stopping Shot and kill it before it reaches me in most cases.


I understand that people feel we have lost some 'uniqueness' with this Upgrade, but so has every other class. People can now dabble as much as they like - feel free to join them if you need to, but I'll keep just my Pistoleer thanks.

I'm one of the losers who dabbles in combat, CL54 because I'm an entertainer for the rest of my skills. I've done both pike and pistols post-CU, in my opinion the CU pretty much means if you're not a double master elite you aren't going to do much anywhere, doesn't matter, you just don't stand a chance against anything that is more than level 56, and PvP? I've seen rifle shots that could 1 hit incap me, that sounds like fun! Pre-CUI had a hard time to defeat anything that was above my skill level, now it is simply impossible. I'm one of the few people that rarely fought with buffs pre-CU, so I knew my profession forward and backward. I could kill things unbuffed that most people didn't attempt....think strong mercs on lok without buffs other than a brandy, ahrisa and maybe some garmorrl with a few stims and a PSG.

In the new system with a PSG. this new health bar and armorI can get destroyed by strong mercs, why? Oh they're level 60+ it doesn't matter what I do, I always lose to them since they are higher level than me. The whole CU has cut a lot of content off to players such as myself if I get attacked I still die even when grouped because I just get so much damage done to me. Pistols is weak, no damage = dead, intimidated, kitedand stunned doesn't matter if the creature is above your level they still outdamage you, pull out a gunor they have a ham regen so fast you're dead before you can kill them. From the standpoint of someone that does not devote their entire time online to mindlessly killing everything Pistoleer can't cut it, with Pikeman one can do a bit more damage and the warcry/intimidate/stun combo works much better than the Pistoleer method but the end result is DEAD. Melee isn't Star Wars feeling, and with the new cartoon effect to melee I'm waiting to see POW, ZAP, BAM fly across the screen. I'll stay with pistoleer and just relegate myself to the cantina, sure I carry a pistol but entertainers aren't meant to actually leave the cantina, that's why they invented macros!

I'd agree with that statement. I also think it's wrong though for a Pistoleer's range to be capped at 35m. We should be able to fire much further, but with an accuracy penalty. I almost feel like a melee fighter now when I play pistoleer.

While every profession has the potential to be dabbled in, the reality is that pistoleer and smuggler are currently being raided by the guys with biger guns to get the unique abilities to stack with their greater damage while the real pistoleer is stuck with a smaller gun and less range. I see that as a problem.

For those of you who have done Doc and CM with Pistoleer, which would be better for PVP.


Master Pistoleer, Master Doctor, CM 0004. (extra control, use stopping shot then electrolyte drain. use paralyze then healself.) Might be uneeded with all the CC in Pistoleer tho.


Master Pistoleer, Master Doctor, CM 0400. (not sure how hard it is to stick these dots, or if it is worth it.)

I took the healing line of CM because that adds another complete heal similar to Improved Bacta Shot (~700ish). It depends on how defensive you want to be. I find that extra heal quite useful.

At the moment I've got 1/0/0/4 Doc for Bacta Infusion and Buffs, that combat speed buff is great... and then I've got 4/4/0/3 CM for healing, DoT's and Electrolyte Drain.
