For MOBs that attack in groups, use the prone/bleed approach. Go prone, bleed the target, peace, then walk about 100m away. Once the bled target takes damage from the bleed only it will attack you and the others will ignore you. This works without pets and only occasionally will they group attack you.
I should point out that this no longer works. With the new bleed changes, bleeds deal damage on impact. Social mobs immediately agro you as they normally would. Sorry people who were confused. You aren't doing it wrong, it just doesn't work any more.
I have expressed concern on the topic in the corresondent forum. It was pretty lame and left you with a "am I supposed to be doing this?" taste in your mouth, but it was a crutch for our profession. It probably had to dissapear, but I would have preferred it didn't until after we got some of our specials fixed so that we could deal with the social mobs that will now be attacking us en masse. Nearly all mid to high level enemies are social. I've never seen an MMORPG with such a high concentration of social mobs coupled with such sadly limited crowd control available to the players.
If you want to increase the XP/FP per mission set, go to one, kill the NPCs but dont finish the mission, just leave the flag and go to the second one. Kill the NPCs there, leave the flag, and by the time you get back to the first one its respawned more NPCs to kill
Its probably faster levelling with other critters, but Im grinding chef/trying to open a bar/want to hit 1st Lieutenant so I can avoid contraband scans as well as levlling pistoleer, so being able to work towards two of my goals at once is a nice bonus.
This isn’t a "what to hunt guide" but a little basic info on armor. Some choose to go without armor and some live by it. If you choose the way of armored tank, here’s some armor tips on what to get.
Ideally you want to find the best armor possible. If you’re fighting creatures, look for armor with high kinetic protection.
80% Triple layered kinetic Composite is the best. It will absorb 90% of incoming damage. Problem is, it’s cost between 200-500k credits per suit and you have to take buffs and spice to wear.
60-75% Ubese armor is a great for grinding. It will absorb around 80%+ of incoming critter damage. You can find it for 50-150k credits per suit.
50-65% kinetic chitin is a good choice for the grinder with a budget. It will absorb around 75% of critter damage. Often made by non-Master armorsmiths you can find it for 30-70k a set. Because chitin can be pricey to make with less profit than Ubese, it can be hard to find with high kinetic.
5-20% kinetic Mabarir is the poor mans armor. It will absorb 51%+ of critter damage. The best thing is, you can find it on the bazaar for cheep (under 1k per peace). Madarir chest plate dose have one drawback, it doesn’t cover the biceps (or shoulders). Pick up some chitin biceps to plug the hole.
