Thread: How will the NPC special fix affect us?
Anyways on topic... last night I got my arse handed to me on a silver platter by this jedi NPC who just a few days ago a guild mate that I am better than fighting wise had easily killed. So ya I think you will find that some stuff is gonna blow your socks off and that other stuff will be just the same. I fought 2 things last night with force powers and while it was fun they were very tough... I had one guy kd/dizzy me and the other one hit me for 1500 points damage.. needless to say very rough but also great fun seeing some blue light being shot at you by an NPC.

Carbineer - AoE States & knockdowns, AP2
No stun weapons, massive HAM costs.
Rifleman - AoE high Damage high Speed & Headshot
Bad range mods close up, not great defences.
Pikemen - Easily Obtained DOT Weapons and AP2 , States. COB
After this change these DOT weapons just got a whole lot harder to get. Worst COB of all melee plus lowest toughness, slow and inaccurate. Only 2 damage types (not counting the looted pike from the one whos name I can never spell). Melee - can be easily kited.
TKM - KD / Dizzy and high Damage at high speed. CoB
Single damage type. Melee - can be easily kited.
Fencer - CoB, high Dodge. Stun, States.
Only 2 damage types, light damage output. The pistoleer of melee? Melee - can be easily kited.
Heavy Swordsman - High Damage, States. CoB
Low defenses, very slow, 2 damage types. COB is not the most effective. Melee - can be easily kited.
Commando - High Damage Flame DOT, grenades. Not much better off than Pistoleers, though. I feel for them.
Sod all defences, must be in melee range to use any special attacks, only 1 viable weapon (LP would be useful, but needs pistoleer mods to beef it up).
Bounty Hunter - Eyeshot. Carbines, LLC, States (blind, flame) , speed
No inherent defences in the BH profession, no stun weapon unless they take pistoleer (and you can of course take BH to get access to these "advantages")
Smuggler - Low Blow (ranged KD). Last Ditch, Feign Death. Panic Shot (warcry effect). Otherwise, not much better.
No defences, no pistol mods, requires pistoleer for these to be useful (see my comment about BH above).
Creature Handler - Pets ... but that's a pet issue. Anyone know if Pokémon are affected by this?
Pets make good tanks but do minimal damage, CH has no inherent defences, must be supplemented by another profession. MOBs will ignore pets and attack handler on occasion.
Pistoleer - Wide range of damage types, fast attack, reasonable defences, limited to AP1 weapons, light damage, has possibly the largest number of option when looking at placing skill points into other professions for cross benefit.
All the above professions have access to high level composite armour and doctor/entbuffs.
Conclusion - Don't panic.

Wide Range of Damage Types - Yea but most of those damage types are highly resisted against NPCs and PCs
Reasonable Def - eh i guess, nothing great.
AP1 weapons only - THIS KILLS OUR PROFESSION. When I was a master marksman i found myself having to use marksmens specials ( base prof ) over pistoleer speciaosl ( elite ) against higher content
Light Damage - again this blows
Skill Points - this is the man ranged dabblers profession

ok, so how do you think this helps the melee types who are limited to 1 or 2 damage types?
Reasonable Def - eh i guess, nothing great.
I will take our defences over rifleman or carbineer any day.

Again, TKA and fencer are limited to ap0 or ap1 weapons - and the ap1 weapons they have are kinetic damage - possibly the most widely resisted damage in the game. As for the comment regarding the specials, that is a different argument.
Light Damage - again this blows
If you want heavy damage pick a profession with heavy weapons.
Skill Points - this is the man ranged dabblers profession
So dabble!

My counter - Yea they may not have the ap like you said but they also do hit for immense damage
