stick a DOT then switch to your high damage republic or scatter

mmm every scatter i see is faster than dx2 by a long shot.. though i dont have an expensive dx2. my scatter was 1.8 spd my dx2 was 3.2 comparison of 2 cheap weapons. dont know how fast an expensive scatter is

Scatters are almost always faster than a DX2 and have a higher min dmg. Besides if he can use a Scatter he probably has BH pistols 4, wich with pistoleer will cap you on speed anyway.

A couple of other pros / cons
I like the republics I have as they are -10 ideal and 0 point blank and max, thus the rage mods are constant whatever distance. I allways hit!
But a scatter can be kryted with only one tissue, thus a standard scatter has to be one considered 200 max damage, ie with one tissue.
