dual pistols is kinda useless right now, come on people, before we start asking for new things like this, shouldn't we rally the devs to get off their asses and fix our profession and carbineer??? hehe, i'm both...

*cough, cough* Ahem! Pardon me, but it was Jango Fett who had dual pistols.. now he could have pistoleer skills as well.

KOTOR has dual pistol abilities, go on from there. I believe accuracy is lower, but damageand speedis greater.

good point, eye candy hehe. I swear pistoleer is the coolest lookin profession atm, though it depends on yer gun (DX2's are so ugly!!!)

Dual-wielding in another class would be crappy.

Who has the skill points for that?

If you want to eliminate the dabblers, make it a Master skill...

Or put it at the top of ourmarksmanship branch, or something dabblers wouldn't normally grind up.

I also think we should be able to hold our pistols sideways.

the only problem I see with being able to hold two different types of pistols, is the fact that we would become way too overpowered especially if they attack and damage speed where the same, we would essentially do double the damage and i think the devs wouldn't like that, thats my reason for presenting the dual pistol schematic, i'm just trying it out so that the devs can see that there is a significatly easier way to do this. I like confusions points but implementing them would be difficullt and seem more grounded in an action based rpg like dues ex.

it would mean youd shoot very fast an do a fair bit of damage, the drawback would be though that your accuracy would be shot to **edit**. In several rpgs this has happened and work (though most were dnd style and either singleplayer or mp but not on the scale of a mmporpg (cept maybe nwn)). Many in these games chose not to use the dual weapons because the accuracy was so horrible.

what would also be cool is hoslters that youcan put your pistols in to see them on the outside, and when you equip them some type of spiny motion. it would also be cool for fencer/pistoleer ppl to be able to hold a sword in 1 hand and a pitol in the other, so when they enemy gets out of meele range the pistol will fire and vice versa. blah forget that but i think a shecm for dual pistols would be easyer to used and not overpowering for the pistoleer prof. (i'm not pistoleer yet but i'm going to give up ch for it)

*laughing hysterically at the idea of doing a double pistol whip animation*

It wouldn't be too hard to have the Dual Wield facility broken across various skill trees within pistoleer - with only a master pistoleer being able to dual wield the top end pistols.

For example, Techniques 2 could give "Dual Wield 1". This would mean adding an extra 'requirement to dual wield' flag to pistols. You coulddual any pistolup to scout blasters if you had dual wield 1, then FWG5's with dual wield 2, and finally dx2's if you have dual wield 3 (Master pistoleer). You could mix and match any combination of pistols which you are certified to dual wield.

Obviously damage should not be doubled - this would be insanely overpowering. In my experience, Anarchy Online has a pretty good dual wield system. Basically the specials come from the right hand (or primary hand) while the off hand (usually the left) spits out one 'extra' attack every 3 attacks. What this amounts to, if dual wielding two identical pistols, is an increase in damage output of approximately 25-30%. Not overpowering, but certainly would make it worth getting to master pistoleer for.

By the way, I listed Techniques purely as an example - it was in no way a suggestion, simply that I couldn't remember the other elements of the pistol tree! I agree that there would need to be some method of deterring "dabblers" while maintaining consistency with the Star Wars world. Perhaps Bounty Hunters could have "Dual Wield: Special" in their master slot to allow them to dual wield scatter pistols or something. But again, protection from dabblers is essential.

What do you think?

why would you want to wield two dx2's, still stand by my claim that theyre some of the ugliest guns around, and hey when yer a pistoleer its mostly about looks.

dual pistols should just be a skill that a master pistoler should just get for mastering the prof

or bounty hunter should get a jet pack not a bike

command should get a laser chaine gun

all that would be great but the devs ant doing nothing.

heheh

I think you guys are making it too complicated on the poor devs. Why not just make any pistol duel weild capable. Thus, when you reach master your one 200 damage dx2 hehebecomes two 200 damage dx2's. That way you don't have to equip two guns, weaponsmiths still make the same guns you won't have to buy two of everything. Also, it will keep the devs from having to figure out how to factor in two speed/damage equations and how they work together with different damage types. To make there be an advantage to using dual weild while not make it overpowering. You could simply change the speed cap to .5 on dual weild guns, and change the animations so that there are two guns shooting. As far as hitting two targets at once with different guns. Multitarget shot!!!! It could hit two things at the same time at any angle and be a 4x modifier on both targets. For the devs this would be really simple, (well maybe not simple b/c from what I hear the animation things are the most difficult). However, you wouldn't have to worry about speed and damage equations for different guns a new primary secondary gun... All you'd have to worry about is with duel weild speed cap goes to .5 and new animations.
