Thread: Why do I even bother???
Jaegan88 you've done a great job as correspondent. You've kept your cool while our boards have been trashed by seething throngs of mindless nerf happy idiots from other professions. We can't even start threads on game balance or design without having them trashed by players who refuse to see the big picture. With twice as many people screamingagainst us, as we have defending ourselves we have had no hopeof correcting the many misperceptions (lies?) concerning us. So just hunker down and we'll do our best despite the latest wave of nerfs that will come crashing over us. There will be balance in the end.
I really do think that after all these nerfs settle that balance will have improved. And that may well include nerfs to Pistoleers. I've always only wanted improved ability with the pistol relative to other professions, not more power relative to any other profession. And there really is room for both, though BH'sfail to see this most of the time. My only real concern right now is that while we may eventually have similar power to other combat classes, we will still lack the Mastery of anything. Pistol use is split up amongst so many professions that I wonder what this profession is really here for?

On the other hand, there are classes that are in worse shape then pistoleer, and should be prioritized, and to not think so is just plain selfish. Im not accusing anyone of whining, since I dont know what I am talkin about, however it seems to me that proffessions where it is next to impossible to get Master, is more important then perfecting a move that you get when you achieve master. With that said, I would like to add in that all of this should have been settled by the devs, and the devs should have listened to the beta testers when they said that the game wasnt ready.

I will tell you why...
Because you see the big screen, you play the game and realize what is happening. You bother because you care about the community as a whole, because you realize that there is no "I" it is a "we". You play a class where you are having fun and you bothered because you realize the detrimental effect that his statement has on the class, the community, and the game.
I for one thank you for "bothering". Please continue to do so. We must separate ourselves from the others; by not falling into the folds as many other professionshave done. Continue to "bother" but don't be charged by emotion be charged by logic. Your post held so many good points but they were brought forth with sarcasm and mockery and this will get us nowhere. I applaud your passion and I urge you to continue to lead the charge but you must do so with restraint. Refer to "The Taming of the Shrew" by Shakespeare. Imagine them as the shrew and use your logic and love of the game and class to point out what we (the pistoleer community) so obviously see.

Jeez, you all miss the point that pistoleers are overpowered not because their skills are so uber but because the other classes are so gimped at this point. I read your post, Jaegen, and you know what I thought? I thought, "Wow, carbineers have all the same problems and more." Bodyshot3 does less damage than Bodyshot2? Congrats, Legshot3 does nothing different from Legshot2. Too many random pool attacks? Congrats, tell me what's the diff between burstshot, fullautosingle, wildshot, crippleshot, and scattershot? Answer: virtually none. Oh yeah, fullautosingle causes stun and dizzy (for 1 second). Wildshot stuns but does minimalrandom damage. Crippleshot is just another random pool attack. Scattershot is even more worthless since it hits all three pools for even less damage. Our knockdown is totally retarded as well--chargeshot? Yeah, you knockdown for almost no damage, and to top it off your toon does a retarded animation that soaks up about two combat rounds.
In addition to the problems we share above, carbineer ham costs are so devastating that we kill half our pool if we try to chain three or four specials in a row. See many carbineers in armor? Nope, because we'd be dead in three specials (from our own attacks) if we killed our secondary stats with armor.It's kind of telling when pistoleers talk about how they chain specials like it's no big deal. And none of our AE attacks (the very point of advanced carbine specials) work aside from actionshot2 and fullautoarea(which barely works).
Do pistoleers need to be nerfed? No, but there are a ton of other classes that need far more work. What upsets people most (I think) is when pistoleers say that their profession is badly off or they need to be stronger.
That was the point of my remarks Kubernetes.
But I dont think that they can see this.
Not only does the majority of thier class work but they are unable to appreicate that fact.
Instead of being happy they are in a class that functions ( for the most part ) the way that it should they have to whine about tweaks that havent happened yet.
There are sooooo many other classes that are FAR more gimped than Pistoleers that I cant believe that the correspondant has the audacity to act like a spoiled child.

We'd better include that laundry list of complaints in our next issues report. I can't believe Raph would read that much into our lack of whining...

In fact doesnt BS3 do more damage shot for shot than BS2?
Its just over time that BS2 is able to do more damage. So basically you can spam BS2 more than BS3.
I thought the DEVS had stated they didnt want specials to be used in this fashion anyway. Saying that BS3 is weaker than BS2 is a serious missrepresentation of the facts ( IMHO ) it is only over time that it is weaker.

No, not true, its completely and absolutely whining for the sake of whining. He's doing his job. If the dev says that we're overpowered because he doesnt whine, then he must whine.....what dont you get?
I dont care if you ARE overpowered I just would like to hear from a Pistoleer that compared to the OTHER classes COMBAT and NON-COMBAT you guys have it sweet.
Instead you guys just whine.
Btw what you wrote is that what you MEANT to write or did you get confused?
