Thread: BH or smuggler with pistoleer?

Thats a great idea on the TKA...I'm dropping Novice doc so I can go MP/MS/TKA. Does anyone know if the Melee Damage Mitigation comes into play when you are still holding a pistol?
I was finally able to drop my medic and artisan skills a few months back and get TKM so now I'm a Triple Master Elite TKM/MP/MS. It's the best thing I have ever done with my character. I can head into the geo cave with no fear, take on a NS Protector, Spellweaver, and a Ranger on at the same time. With good weapons and a few speed SEA's for pistol it's effective in PvP (except against most riflemen
) with good tactics. Yes Melee Damage Mitigation does indeed work with a pistol equipped, and Ranged Mitigation does work with my VK's equipped. I do the Tusken Fort in Tusken clothes no armor, and have no problems even with the Warlords. Give it a try.
As for those who state Panic Shot is useless think again. You just need to use it the right way, especially with TK skills. I have macroed my panic shot with a slight delay (1 sec for the special to take effect) and the /peace command. First layon the Low Blow until KD is achieved and follow with the Panic shot macro. This will allow you to close distance switch to TK and apply your Dizzy. If your target manages to get up before the Dizzy takes effect, then follow with your lunge for the posture change.
Also the only way for a pistoleer/smuggler to beat a fencer with a center macro is to use Last Ditch until the stun sticks.

I love this template, but that's mainly because I feel like being a smuggler more than I feel like fighting right now.
Before, this was my template:
Marksman 0/4/0/1 --> Allows me to take pistols and smuggler, and gives the /aim command with 2 extra ranged defense
Brawler 4/0/0/0 --> Allows me to take TK and smuggler, gives lunge and intimidate and warcry
Medic 2/2/4/0 --> Allows me to heal bleeds, drag incapacitated party members, and use StimDs for large heals
Teras Kasi Master --> This one's pretty self explanatory
Master Pistoleer --> Again, pretty self-explanatory
Smuggler 0/1/4/0 --> gives the great pistol specials, and allows me to hack the terminals when going on base raids.
I've never seen anyone else with that exact template ... it took exactly 250 skill points, and I was very hard to kill. It gave great defenses, great offense, and great healing power. I only dropped it because I'm not PvPing as much anymore, and decided to pick up all of Smuggler, dropping medic.

I currently have master pistoleer / bh pistol 3 / novice brawler and i fare pretty well in pvp, but im intrigued by this post and im thinking about smuggler but want to know more. I am very interested in pvp, but with the combat rebalance coming soon (supposedly), i dont want to go into a FOTM only to have it harder to get out of it and into something good in the future. I want to know exactly what the strategy for a master pistol / master smuggler is, i understand that defenses are huge but they are useless at the same time if you cant dish out any damage, especially to the mind pool.
Oh, and just a comment regarding speed, at master pistol / bh pistol 3 you have hit the speed cap so speed tapes and whatnot will do nothing for you.
Many people think that hitting the mind pool is the end all. It really depends. It seems to me on the Bria server that there are a ton more rebels. The rebels, and I am one, usually are a lot less organized and prepared than our imperial counterparts. This is based on my experience only.. Kudos to you imps for taking pvp seriously.
My bro and I have noticed that the mind on these very well prepared imperials is getting harder and harder to take down. Many as do I gamble on the fact that people will target our minds. Therefore, I have 2 brandies 2 canapes and I have another character that only buffs mind and willpower. Plus with power boost and 37% stun helmet and stun shield and guess what, you are not gonna scratch that mind very easily. In all on my zabrak stat migrated to 500 focus and 900 willpower with 1000 on the mind ends up with over 3000 mind on all stats. If you couple that with force of will macroed and equilibrium from Zabrak and you have a pretty deadly character.
My point is the mind can be very hard to take down. While someone is working on my mind Im hitting them without wasting any time on what ever area is weakest. My experience recently is that it seems more and more that im killing people on the health and action bars. Everyone seems to be really compensating for the lack of mind healing. Just my observations..
It gets boring and very slow. Especially when I see some rifleman come up and just strafe 2 or master headshot 3 something and kill it much faster, while having bigger mind bleeds. It doesn't even use that many skill points to master rifleman.
