Thread: fmg or dx2?
I'm using(correct me if I'm wrong) a DH17 which does 72-113 damage. The high end isn't as high as some of the others but the high(low) end really makes up for it. I'm not sure about the speed but this is by far the best pistol I have had. I'll make Novice Pistoleer in the next 2 days sometime. I'm always looking for someone who can make a "BETTER" gun, so if you are on the Radiant server, email me, I'll buy it...

As someone mentioned, it is all about the type of damage you wish to inflict and the defesne of your oponent.
The DX2 prduces "acid" type of damage. Most mobs will not have a defense against acid attacts. You trade that off with the reduced maximum damage and speedyou get with the DX2. The armors that cannot defend against acid attacks:
Bone, Marine, Padded, Padded Impact, Tantel, Ubese, Zam Wesell, all personal Shield Generators.
The Tangle is by far the most effective pistolagainst the most numerous types of armor. The Tangle produces "stun" damage and the only protection are the shield generators. That means that using a Tangle against an armored opponent should be the same as the opponent not wearing any armor at all -- except for the encumberance. But...the Tangle has a damage range of 45-55 is is extremely slow.
Stormtrooper and Marinearmor seems to be about the best all around armor types (absorbs 30% of most damage) so to compare a few different pistols:
BodyShot3 at 4x dmg on a Tangle (45-55)should hit for 220+ on an armored opponent at ideal range. BodyShot3 on a FWG5 (20-100) and SR Combat (45-100)should hit for 280+ on an armored opponent at ideal range.BodyShot3 on aScout (35-80) should hit for 224+ on an armored opponent at ideal range. BodyShot3 on a DX2 (60-90)should hit an armored opponent for 252+ at ideal range. These are the unmodified and unexpirimented min-max damage for these weapons against an opponent wearing Marine or Stormtrooper armor.
Typically, from slowest to fastest: SR Combat (3.75), Power5 (3.6), FWG5 and DX2 (3.5), DL44 (3.4), DH17 (3.2), Scout (3.1), D18 (3).
It seems to me, the Scout is the more balanced of them all. I currently have an SR Combat that I use on a regular basis and I won't be able to trade it in fast enough. I like the power but the range sucks and its much too slow. I was attracted to the min damage valuemore than anything else. With the scout, I could Health Shot and Body Shot twice before a mob closed in. With my current gun, the second Body Shot often comes when the mob is inside my ideal range. I've been told that the FWG5s made today rival the scouts in speed and if that is the case, that would be the best bet. It has about the same ideal range as the scout.
DX2 seems like a good gun but not so sure on balance.
Just my two cents...
