Thread: Disarming Shot II

No, that would be stupid. Most PvPers have their weapons hotkeyed, they just select it again. Unless you dont want to put it on a timer, which would be even more stupid, because then you just sit there and spam disarm, which is stupid. Yes, stupid stupid stupid.
Or they could throw out the name "disarm shot" and give it another name, perhaps make it so instead ofgetting rid of thir weapon ( more than 50% of the game is creatures anyway ) make it lower their attack rating by a certain percent. Like a debuff.

I agree. I have my pistols hotkeyed, but I like this idea.
Kol Tagger, I disagree with your statement about the timer being a stupid idea...TKA's have a timer delay, and yes it gets spammed, but that's where caps come in. Pistol whip is still great, you just can't spam it anymore. It only works a few times per MOB (I only get it to work once per MOB. In most cases, that's enough). Same could be true of disarm. Disarm 2, then, would be a longer timer, or you can use it twice as often.
So in a perfect world, it will be very useful. In the world we are in right now, never EVER use it, except maybe on lairs...adn even then, the speed and HAM costs make it an undesirable tactic for me personally. If you are wearing armor, which slows your regen rate, then ANY HAM cost on a lair is unsatisfactory...you will need to heal before you get to your next target.

First of all. Even if they do have it hotbared (ofcourse they do), disarming it would empty their attack queue, aswell as cost them a second or two before its re-equipped and good to go. Secondly, why NOT put it on a timer, just like Knockdown etc?
I believe "stupid stupid stupid" was a very good description of your post.
Pyclone, you write "if its a timer its just a clone of panic shot or warcry lame... last thing this game needs is more duplicated skills". Good point. I don't have any Smuggler skills, and so don't know what Panic Shot does. However, if it's a ranged Warcry, it's not a duplicate skill (it's ranged, not a brawler skill). I really feel that we are lacking any meaningful state effects. Bleed is great, but outside of suppresion fire (in the marksman tree, not a requisite for Pistoleer) and Pistolwhip1, we have no way to KD, Delay, Stun, Dizzy, Blind, etc. Now, there are lots of skills out there that KD, or that Dizzy, so I don't see that as a useless duplicate.
Bottom line, to me, is we have a LOT of useless random HAM specials...Some different state effects on those specials would be nice. And damaging a Player Crafted weapon is too useful to griefers, and should NOT be an ability any player can get. Unequiping the weapon is not be favorably recieved, so...I think a Timer Delay is the most logical choice.
We've asked them a bunch of times to get DisarmingShot2 fixed -- we've suggested a ranged Intimidate, a delay (like PanicShot), targetting action, etc.
I think it won't get fixed until they revamp combat entirely. I've tried to push the issue, but I'm not hopeful that we'll get a response before the combat changes go into effect.
