As far as I have seen pistol can fit into about any group for anything. Only thing you are missing is armor piercing of greater than light and some cases none at all.
Actually I think only the SBD has 100% resist to blast and cold and there is one npc that has 100% resist to acid. All other damage types are not really affected that much
Until the devs realise that pistoleer needs himself a big dirty medium armour piercing hand cannon we will never contribute in PvE and will not be considered useful in a dungeon raiding team, the carbineer and rifleman are capable of the same damage types we are but with armour piercing and any melee profession can out-perform our kinetic pistol.
Pistoleer is a great profession but it's starting to look more and more like we're being excluded from the combat roster, at the moment an armoursmith ranks above pistoleer in the party listings in order to craft the mandalorian armour. They can waste a spot on an armoursmith but don't want a pistoleer, that's wrong.
A pistoleer has a hard time in the geonosian caves once those spawns get going, we ain't doing much in the Corvette and it seems no-one will take us into the death watch bunker, I'm not even going to ask when to expect for the next published dungeon... Bottom line, the only pistoleers going into these places are doctors.
