Thread: Why keep my Master Pistoleer?

why be a master of nerfdom? is keeping master pistoleer still worth it? not having a ranged knockdown attack, AOE or not, sucks. not having any skills worth the upper tiers of pistoleer is crap. why should I keep my master pistoleer?

There's no reason, really, besides pride at this point. I'm a Master Pistoleer and I regret my choice ... I would have stopped at pistolwhip and went up Smuggler, or maybe tried a medical profession, if I knew what was coming.


If you don't mind losing all your hard work, then just start surrendering unless you think the Devs are going to do something to help us anytime soon (yeah, right LOL). I would do that myself if it wasn't for all that hard work going down the drain.

I think I am going to drop it and add smuggler pistol and commando. I hate BH's and refuse to become one.

Seeing as knockdowns are getting nerfed, getting smuggler for its pistol abilities would probably be a very bad idea at the moment.

are they actually going to nerf all knockdowns? so far I havent heard anything about bh's knockdown or tka's

Oh, guess you missed the Test Center updates. Knockdown will be set so the targets get knockdown immunity for 30 seconds after you use it. So even if you knock something down and incapacitate it for 5 seconds, it still has 25 seconds to issue a beat down on you. Course you could throw in Panic Shot to the mix, but that has a tendency to piss off other creatures in the area if mis-fired. It wouldn't be too bad if it were just the smuggling tree, but we'd have to waste points in brawling too, so I'll probably be dropping Smuggler once the nerfs arrive, unless the devs change their minds or something.

Once the knockdown nerf goes through, gaining experience is going to slow down dramatically for everyone (other than riflemen who will still be going around soloing krayts and jedi knights).


This means that respecing is going to become progressing harder and harder as the developers continue to nerf skills.


So instead of going with the 'flavor of the month' profession/hybrid that WILL be nerfed, I chose to the look at the longer timeframe. Pistoleer/doctor is what I wanted to be. Not smuggler. Not bounty hunter. I am trusting that eventually our skills will be fixed and being a master pistoleer will be worthwhile.


Unfortunately, this means that my template is done right now and I'll have a month or more of being smacked around in PvP until the developers finally take pity on the master pistoleers and start fixing some of our skills.

You haven't fought someone who panic shot you until you can't attack anymore have you? The reason to get smuggler is not the ranged knock down. Only people who have never played smugglers think that the best attack in dirty fighting isa ranged knockdown. The best attack a smuggler has at his disposal is panic shot. It's a cone attack delay effect. Think of it as all the perks of disarm2 right now without the posture change. You shoot. You hit a bunch of people. All of them can't attack again for another 10 seconds.


And the best part is that they don't need to reach master to get this special. It's 2 boxes up (175k + 250k xp).

Um, I AM a smuggler with Panic Shot and Low Blow. What, you think Panic Shot is immune to nerfing? Spending so many points for one skill that's likely to eventually become nerfed, just for PvP is not exactly a good idea.

Always remember, don't use Disarming Shot II when there are a bunch of TEF's around and you're shooting at one overt.

are you kidding me....your crying over losing aoe kd......LOL, you are what is wrong with this game, does it say ANYWHERE in disarm 2 that this attack will kd multiple targets....um...no...Now, those are the effects that are said to be on Crahged shot 2 for carbineer...but the attack has niether effect....

Panic shot has already been nerfed.



Second, having both a knock down and panic shot means you've already gotten most other professions beat. They only have a knock down.



If panic gets nerfed it simply means you'll use both. Right now, I only use panic because in terms of damage per HAM spent, nothing beats panic. Why hit one target when you can hit 8 at a time?
