Thread: Survey: Elite Pistoleer Template + What?

My apologies in advance if this has been done to death already. I'm starting a new discussion on the topic just to freshen up the forum a bit.

I'm the "elite" Pistoleer template. This means Master Pistoleer, Smuggler Pistols 4, Bounty Hunter Pistols 4 and Novice Commando. With those skills, we're left with 6 skill points. What do you spend them on? Here are some options I've thought of and some cons of those choices.

  • Polearm 1 & 2 from Brawler so you can use Nightsister lances with diseases and poisons. Personally, I'd rather just use a poison Geo pistol because you can do it from range and get all your speed and accuracy bonuses.

  • Slicing 1 from Smuggler for extra credits per mission. I did this once before they corrected group mission payouts. It was just too annoying to do given the randomness of the bonus. Only once in a while did I get lucky and get a good bonus for the type of mission I wanted to do.

  • Novice Carbineer for Full Auto Single 2. I've been reading that using an Enhanced E11 carbine gives you an extra Health bleed and using the Full Auto Single 1 special (from Marksman) can give you a Dizzy state. Taking Novice Carbineer might not be worth it since you can already accomplish what you need without it.

  • Novice TK for Meditate. Anything else here? Meditate isn't a good combat skill and at novice it only slows down bleeding.

  • Investigation 1 from Bounty Hunter for very easy, super quick and fast missions. You can get 6k credit bounties that are < 200m away. Easy peasy.

  • Hunting 1 & 2 from Scout for getting those uberorganic resources forprofit.

  • Force Powers. I've never gotten into Jedi much. I suspect some Ranged Accuracy and/or Ranged/Melee Defense might be useful. Don't need Ranged Speed cuz we're already speed capped.

Have I missed anything? Am I off base with anything? What do you do and why?

I like the Novice Carbs idea. You know why.

The Pikes thing is an interesting twist on it, but I'm not sure I'd want to count on actually hitting AND sticking a poison/disease. Polearm Accuracy at that level blows.

Novice TKA... For the amount of meditation skill you get at Novice, it's not really worth it in my opinion. Although without FirstAid 2, you might find it very helpful. Personally I prefer FA2.

I think the bonuses you get from the others are better than those you'd get from Slicing.

No experience with Invest, so I'll leave it to someone else.

I like having Hunting I and II... very useful, imo.

Force Powers (eg. Ranged Speed/Accuracy) isa great idea if you're inclined toward that sort of thing.

So, I'd think the Carbs or the Pikes is the best option, aside from Force, if you like that. Out of Carbs and Pikes, I'd personally go with Carbs.

I've been reading over in the Carbineer forums that the Dizzy state seems to be getting wiped with a posture change and/or KD.

Have you been using FA2 lately?

A cool thing about these picks (except the Force skills) is that if you needed one you could grind it out very quickly. For example, if you had chosen Novice Carbineer and some uber meats spawned, you could get Hunting 1 & 2 in a heartbeat. If you were wise, you probably had some Carbine XP saved up to get back to Novice Carbineer after the spawn.

I have the same temp. I do very well in pvp aswell. I use stim D packs to heal and can hit for upto 1700 on one heal. I'm 3340 medic. I still need thatokil and iothorn mist or I get dizzy/kd. if I'm not on my back I usually win the fight.

Personally, I'd recommend putting them in FS skills. Your accuracy, with the inherant pistol special accuracy mods, will definitely be enough. But 6 skill points is enough for an additional 15/15 melee/range defense. And defenses are as good as always nice to have.

Eep! Not only am I the Pistoleer CSR/Troll... I'm a Ninja-Multi-Poster! Sorry about that everyone! That was really weird!

Oh, and a little Medic goes a LONG way! It prolly won't help you against a Rifleman ora Swordsman, but against TKAs, Fencers, Pikeman, etc. it will be a lifesaver! No Temp should be able to easily beat ALL other profs though, right? It's all about balance, knowing your opponent's skill, and choosing your battles wisely.

As far as I know, the FS Ranged Accuracy branch (as well as Ranged Speed) is still broken, so I wouldn't waste your XP on it just now. I'd start with FS Melee Defense instead.

As for Medic skills, I find mine indispensible as a Pistoleer. I'm a 3/0/4/0 medic, and can't even begin to count the times I've saved myself from certain death by being able to heal my bleeds in mid-battle, and instantly regen my Health and Action pools to 100% with a single click. True, you can't heal mind, which could be an issue if somebody is doing a mind attack in PvP, but you can compensate for that to some degree with foods (brandy, canape, blue milk), mind buffs, and a good mind stats migration. As a PvE player, I find I can't live without medic. Do any PvP Pistoleers reading this find it as indispensible as I do, out of curiosity?
