Thread: Holy Crap is Fan Shot Awesome or Advice for Novice Pistoleers

Ok, so, if you are still a Nov. Pistoleer and you are trying to decide which skill tree to do to first... this is the one... You'll go from doing 900 Max to one creature (with a good DX2, say) to 1100 max (these are rough numbers of course) to 3 or 4 at the same time.... Get buffed, got to Dathomir, and shoot everything in sight (except Nightsisters)and reap the sweet, sweet, XP nectar. =)
Mind you, this is nothingnew, but I thought I'd give it some love...

Hahaha yeah I remember when I first got fanshot it was love at first shot 
You would be amazed at how quick I can mow down 20 stormtroppers with /fanshot and a good gun

I just got it like last week, (just mastered couple days ago) my main weapon has always been pistols so i had never got to use an AoE yet.
/Fanshot is a major game reward- bigtime IMO. It feels so good to spray an area and see all those dmg numbers at the same time, everyone lowers like woa. And then with the speed of a master + /lastditch, dam idc what, I like pistoleer alot.
I'm glad I went for it. /Fanshot was like getting /suppressivefire or /lowblow all over again.

Not to rain on your parade, but, as a long time Pistoleer, I'd like to point out two things (and these are just my opinion - YMMV):
A) Enjoy Fanshot - it is the last special you get that is worth anything.
B) You might want to practice a little caution when slinging Fanshot around on Dathomir, now that Nightsisters and the SMC have their powers back. Nothing willstop you from reaping "the sweet, sweet, XP nectar" faster than Fanshotting an Enraged Rancor lair and catching that Nightsister Elder, who just strolled into range, in the AOE and getting the crap kicked out of you. DX2smay seem pretty snazzy, but against Heavy AR, you might as well be throwing the DX2 itself at her. Not that I have any personal experience with this or anything.

Oh, I'm fully aware that fanshot is one of our only good specials. That's why I'm so happy to have gotten it. I'm glad I did some reseach caus eI would be mad if I had spent all that time grinding pistol XP for some busted special =)
As for nightsisters on Dath, I always make sure I have burst run ready to go. I have will not hesitate to run like a sissy or, if needed, feign death. Anyone know if Burst run will "recharge" during Feign Death?
Despite the danger, the XP is worth it.

Yep, fanshot is pistoleer's saving grace. Nothing like mowing down 20 stormies and running up to find them all in a neat little pile.
That being said, as already mentioned stay away from the nightsisters, you don't (and never will as a pistoleer) have a chance.

Fanshot does, indeed, own. I love kiting 5 angry cavemen behind me, running helplessly after me just out of melee range, and killing them all with little risk or effort. The pay is nice, the xp is nice, and sometimes the loot can be incredible.
Fanshot has made it a lot easier to hunt, I recommend that every Pistoleer do the Techniques tree first.

If you really want to have some fun with fan shot, pick up a tricked out Modifed Rep and just let loose with it. Have to enjoy seeing them all bleed for you.

I am a master bounty hunter, master pistoleer.
I have tried to use fanshot many times, since I hear so much good about it... but I never ever seen any improvement of this shot. Maybee I do 7-800 damage on one person, and then 50-100 on 2 more next to him... which is absolutely meaningless when I can do 11-1300dmg per shot with a stopping shot...
...and all my shots are capped at 1.0s anyway... so i dont care about the timer...
I have no idea what I do wrong...

what are you using? a cdef pistol? i'm bh0040/master pistoleer/rogue smuggler/novice commando and i can clear the whole Weapon Development Facility POI with a standard issued republic blaster that got a dmg slice [235dmg] in under 14 minutes max [minus the inquisitor]. for those who don't know, thats a lot of freaking dark troopers. so i don't know what problem your having with fanshot, but sounds like a bug to me or you need some better weapons. Dark troopers have 10k ham or so around.
