hehe, How can i Put this without getting into trouble......

Ok, i'll try the Blunt but honest approach

Commando Sucks Currently, sorry can't put it any other way. Right nowthe class isPretty much Still in Beta, They have some eye candy and Some VERY cool toys...but that about it. The Weapons Certs need to Be reworked, it seems as if they are bugged because alot of them give the message even having the cert. The Weapons And Skill mods in the Tree need to be gone over, there is Entierly too much missing going on...And the damage on the weapons (flamethroweris the only one i've heard "Good" stuff about...sorta) could still stand a Boost. and it Goes on....ect

Well anyway That is Not to Discourage you from the class tho i Have faith that the Cammando will one day be a GREAT Class....just not today tho. If you Can have faith,then By all means, start working Away on Commando....Just understand it is Still very Unknown What their Potential is, While Pistolier is a Sure thing,We know where that will take you And it is a Good place to be We just don't have enough on the Cammando to make the comparison yet.

Did it help any?

I happen to be going Master smuggler / Master Pistoleer / TKA for meditation 4 / Scout for explore 4

I will be one bad mofo with a pistol. But the truth is go with what feels right to you. Even if the commando is weak now it wont be forever. You just have to wait sony time not forum time.

I had actually orignally planned to be a commando myself, but having both hearing how the class is borked, and discovering that it isreally more of a support class (meant for blowing up installations, not killing 1on1), I saw myself reborn as a smuggler/pistoleer.

The brawling tree does present a bit of a quandry skill-point wise, though. Thats 29 points that have to be spent (15 for novice brawling and 14 up the UA tree) that more professions don't have to bother with. Since scouting skill is pretty much required for any good combat character, there goes another 29 points or so (novice scouting + expl 3 + surv 2 at the very least).

NowI needa modicum of medical skill...another 26 skill points spent there as a minimum I would think.

Then add in the final clincher: I would like to have a resource farm or some such of my own some day. This means novice artisan and a few skill points into surveying.

Five novice professions! I never was very good at making up my mind

Right now (since I was originally going for commando) I have expert rifle and expert carbine in addition to pistol specialist...I could sell those skill points off. Hate to do it but I can.

So lets see what I have...

63 points for master smuggler...

52 points maybe in pistoleer (dont have to learn all of it)

47 points in the marksman tree...(after selling off rifle and carbine skill)

29 minimum points in scouting...

26 minimum points in medical...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total =217

=========================================

So I guess there are enough points left to get novice artisan + surveying, and maybe even keep some of my rifle or carbine skill

Oops, I forgot the 29 points in novice brawling/unarmed tree...so that basically means that even after selling off rifle and carbine skill, there would not be enough pts left for novice artisan and surveying

I am also struggling with this choice. I just got novice pistoleer but would not heasitate to drop that for commando if I decided it would complement smuggler more.

Tell you now..

I have a flamethrower.

If you don't know why that is reason enough, you should probably pick pistoleer =) But if you are still curious, and on Starsider, msg me under Cyras and I will demonstrate for you in Mos Eisley =)

Novice commando - Launcher pistol cert

Novice pistoleer - Health shot 2

then you choose from there...go for body shot 3,defences or acuracy in pistoleer.

I'm still curious TK, but not on Starsider. I'm assuming the Flamethrower is a very nice weapon? Could you elaborate some for the non-Starsiders?
