This seems to have completely lost attention post-CURB. Has the idea been scrapped in favor of our "Crowd Control" role?

Hmm, by my calculations we get one of these threads a week. Or is it sooner than that?
You've even made it look the the last thread on this subject which is just a few posts under yours at the moment.

Yeah, at least that often. There's been a higher thread count on this topic than on a luxury bedsheet, and I wish somebody would deal the topic a /deathblow.

you gotta incap the thing first, and it has a health regen that makes the EvilAlbatross (tm)look like a CL 1 snail.

Oh, I did kill a couple of those the other day... was all over pretty quick. Find me something harder next time!

As for something harder... I guess you'll need a CL 81 or 82 NPC that uses a rifle.
Kinda tough to kite those when they hit you farther out than you can hit them.

I've killed cl81 Dark Nova Trooper spawns, along with and the rest of his cl25 squad and the odd cl77 Nova Commander.
I like those spawns.

My guess is he rooted the bird, applied electrolyte drain, applied some poison and fire, then kited the bird til it died.
Here's how I beat the CL 81 witch (it's a "boss" mob too, it has the little blackthingee in the conicon.) Concussion shot. spam some damage. laugh. repeat. Now if concussion shot worked like it is supposed to (should be a paralyze, not a root) then it would be stopping shot, damage, restraining shot, kite/damage, concussion, wait on stopping shot and action, then repeat.
In your case, you should respec to get the electrolyte drain and kite the bird.
Badger, are the CL 81 troopers "boss" mobs? Do they have the little black thingee in the yellow 81 con circle icon?

The first two I did were with a MRiflemen/MSL and a MPike/MCH guildmates... but the birdwent down so quickly we didnt have time to think.
After that I had a pop at one solo.
So, run in and stickElectrolyte Drain on as they are non aggro and then run out again.
I run my lil macro...
Pistoleer-SpamDamage
/emote uses Loth's Barrage on %TT
/macro Pistoleer-SpamDamage2
Pistoleer-SpamDamage2
/quickDraw
/pause 0.5
/bodyShot
/paue 1.5
/macro Pistoleer-SpamDamage2
And after a while... it died. ![]()
Oh, I did use stopping shot to set it on fire and poison it as well... and did warning shot then went for intim and stun but they didn't stick.
It's only CL81... and I happily I solo CL90 grand/ancient krayts.
*awaits a good smacking with the nerf bat*
LOL, Nifty knows the score!
I cant remember if the Dark Novas are boss or not, but I hada probot combat droid made with 110 med rating, self repair module and combat modules, I can buff him and heal him as well. He takes most of the beating vs any ranged mobs I fight while I blast/DoT them.

Very impressive, Badger! It sounds like that electrolyte drain makes all the difference. I had been considering picking up that line (to address your comment Nifty), but lately I've been trying to fend of multiple mobs simultaneously on Kashyyyk, and it just wouldn't be practical to electrolyte drain them all (unless it's an AOE!). I've been finding it more useful to have good healing power. I have yet to encounter anything on Kashyyyk (except for that #$*!@ katarn) that gives me much trouble solo as long as I can heal, and I've been running a lot of quests there. I often have 10-20 mobs kiting me at once, and I love watching them fall one at a time with my cone shots as I keep boosting my health back to 100% every few shots.
Yeah, good healing power is definitely a must-have for me.

aww, using a pet ain't soloin', that's groupin' with an NPC!
*makes note to get a good combat droid with decent self heals.*
Uthyr, I understand the healing thing.
Though right now, only heals I have are the Stim D's. Dropped all of CM at the moment. I miss the heals, but I like the extra accuracy of my commando line, and the insane defense of Improved CoB.
