Thread: Pistoleer....a bit weak?

I am a Nov pistoleer almost at stopping shot and have the first marksman box. After a few PvP battles, it seems we are a bit under powerd.


The BH's have their underhand shot, which can be pretty lame after a while. Granted we have melee defense (which i also have) but u have to be close to use it.


Riflemen have their mind shot...which is very powerfull, and can drop anyone pretty quick.


But what do we have? Health shot 2? Its ok...but not that great. And stopping shot is cool, but it hits a random pool. Whats the best shot a pistoleer got?

From the study Jaegen88 posted earlier, BS3 isn't significantly better than BS2. Nor is Stopping Shot much better than Double Tap. But Fan Shot, now there's a good attack.


Some battle tactics:


Try using Health Shot1 and2to startoff the battle (called stacking the HS), then if you still need to use specials, try Double Tap or Body Shot 2 if you don't already have Fan Shot. Use Stopping Shot primarily if their health is less than 50% or so and you want to take them out quick.

Yeah I have noticed when stacking healthshot 1 and 2, even if someone does one-shot kill me they usually bleed to death before they can /deathblow me.

Underhandshot as well as all knockdowns are going to be nerfed.


But no problem. BH's are going to cry loud and often...your class will be next on the nerf list.

Pistoleers too weak? How about fencers? My good friend is a fencer and he has 0 knockdowns and is a melee class. We have 2 (1 at range 1 at melee).

We aren't underpowered currently, however after the knockdown nerf I have a feeling we will be.


What do pistoleers do?

We knock down, we do damage, and we cause health bleeding.


Thats it, we have no other "special" attacks.


I truely hope that when SOE nerfs knockdowns they take a good hard look at all of the classes that are effected by it, and contemplate how to balance things. Bounty hunters, for example, will no longer be able to take down their marks without the ability to spam knockdown. Granted, im sure some smart bounty hunters will come up with methods to take them down, but im sure it will be long, boring, and tedious.


Dont get me wrong, I do feel knockdown needs nerfing, I just think they need to take a look at what the knockdown nerf is going to break before they send it to the live servers.

How can you say knockdown needs nerfing when the resist modifiers to knockdown aren't working?

seriously, you guys compain about pistoleer, come play carbineer with 2.5x the HAM costs per special and then you can complain. BTW, even carbines arent the worse, commandos are completely screwed.

Part of the Carbine issue is planetary resources. Once you get a good AR2 or excellent AR1 weapon, and you cap your Carbine speed, you will outdamage any pistoleer.

look at the stats of all the weapons, i mean we may have some cool specials, that could use some unbugging, but the the pistol out there, is far weaker then the worst rifle out there. and i haven't really looked at carbines, but i'm sure they are stronger then pistols also. also both those classes get targeted HAM pool attacks, and all we get is BS1-3 which is screwed up at the moment. so yes we are weak, but once we get all our specials fixed, i think we will be about even with the other fighting classes.
