Pistoleer Archive
Thread: i asked the bh and got good answers. Now pistoleer
Do you feel that if a melee is up on you. You should be able to win?
This is the answer of today. I am a tkm. I am pure melee because it is fun and motion capture moves pwn j00 ![]()
But.. pistols think they should do the dmg they are doing with range and able to pistolwhip a tkm upclose. I think this is very very wrong i have a delay on my knockdow. i think pistolwhip should also or make it pistolwhip has a very high chance of missing. Right now a pistoleer should not own a melee type upclose. A melee trained his body for upclose combat. Guns have range and nice dmg we have upclose and heavy dmg. *even tho the dmg does not really compare that much with speed caps and such* Everyone i have talked to said that no marksmen type should own a melee person upclose because that takes the whole point of being melee. If you say we are tanks we are not. I traded my range for heavy dmg. I got pretty much gimped out.
I want to see what you people think because a) severs down and b) i am bored
You won't like my answer;
50/50 i should win. All things equal, whoever hits kd first will win. But since we are speaking of PC and not NPC, we should take into account player skills. In all fairness if you can get within 14m of me you should win. If you close the distance to 7m and i'm still standing you will have a 50/50 chance to knock me down before i knock you down. We are speaking on this game's reality, not RL. In RL you wouldn't get within 7m, one shot would stop you. But in this game if you get to 7m and i'm still standing, you would lose.
You have tools to win, you just have to play smart, use your head. Bum rushing a pistoleeer is just plain dumb.
lunge has a 14m range. More than enough to get me on my knees, lunge again and i'm down. Less HAM than KD move after nerf. Apply dizzy, dead pistoleer. With the 75% reduction you brawler types will be able to get in close. I've heard of TK doing 2000 damage... i've never gone over 2k on with any pistol.
Now if they fix surpressive (sp)fire... hmmm then i'd say you guys are in trouble again. ![]()
Same goes for attacking a master pistoleer. Between the ranged KD, and with the coming patch, the possibility that suppression fire will work, you don't even have to worry about pistol whip.
Even though the pistoleer KD costs were raised by a huge multiple as well, our HAM costs were low to begin with, so spamming KD for the duration of a PvP duel isn't that big a deal, especially if they have healing.
The pistoleer is somewhat of a ranged/melee hybrid. Most definitely, pistoleers are primarily a ranged class, but there are a few important similarities to melee professions.
First, our accuracy is by far the highest at point black range (i.e. melee range). Although it might not seem so obvious right now, but accuracy does drop off dramatically with range. Second, the pistol whip is a melee attack. You're getting bopped over the head by a pistol, not a bullet. Third, the pistoleer gets a number of defensive bonuses, which helps to make for a better tank, which is usually a melee's role.
Your lunge has a 15m range, while pistol whip has a 7m range, so that's your advantage. Get within 7m, and it's the pistoleer's melee attack against yours.
There are tradeoffs, though, for having this versatility of being ranged and melee. Pistols are the weakest ranged weapons, and this becomes more obvious as the speed bonuses start to really add up on those high damaging rifles.
Alysennethats very true about our lunge. But once a pistoleer sees me i am dead.
Truth is. I can understand pistols being melee/range SOME. But there melee skills should not effect a master swordsmen or tka. That would be having the best of both worlds. High dmg and range
