Thread: For fun.... New pistol damage types

Now I might have missed this but AFAIK we haven't been given the info for the damage type (or vs armour) on the new pistols. So I'm putting up an uneducated guess, and seeing if anyone else want's to take a stab at what these pistols do. (And to add any pistols you'd like to see in future). Remeber it's just an idle muse for fun (cause I'm bored) but if you're feeling similarly afflicted join in.


1. Renegade Pistol, Says heavy pistolpotentially does blast damage? Posible heavy armor beater?


2. Intimidator Pistol, Says bulky, can decide if this is cause it's a fast firing weapon for lightly armoured targets or if it's another armour beater? Energy damage?


3. Jawa Ion Pistol, Got to be stun damage, and says close range, although closer than what I wonder, as all pistols look like they'll be SR weapons...


4. Flechette Pistol another kinetic weapon, "flechette" implying large amounts of damage to lightly armoured targets like infantry?


5. Death Hammer Pistol, not a clue but love the name!


6. Flare Pistol, Er somewhat bizzare as a weapon but got to have loads of incendary potential, heat weapon.


Anyone have any muses/wild fantasies about the pwning potential of these waepons or think a canon/EU pistol is missing? I'd love to hear what people think.

Its always good to kill time musing about upcoming changes in game.


I'm glad the resist system is staying, the way I see it you will be able to change the setting on each gun to best get past your targets armour... that's how I see the new system for Armour Piercing anyway.


That sounds like fun, chopping and changing to the right gun for the situation and changing the setting on it to give you the best damage output.


It'd hope that Pistoleers are able to be quite flexable in this regard, basically... you've got one hand free to make adjustments to your weapon, but with a heavier gun... or melee weapon for that matter, you'd be slower at adapting your weapon to the situation.


I wouldnt be surprised if a lot of professions get new weaponry that enables them to output all the damage types in some form or another.


What are we as Pistoleers lacking? Cold, Blast and Restraint?


Maybe not all professions should have access ot all damage types... If done right, I suppose a certain profession would be more effective in certain situations and against certain MObs... that way a group of different classes can adapt their strategy to suit a given scenario.

They need to just issue us 'tickle me pistols' and be done with it.

Funny, you know I was wondering about the AP settings earlier though, do we actually know if all pistols will be able to use all 3 modes? I'm guessing of course but I think only a few pistols will have all firing modes, this could be a good thing mind, because as you say, we could swap out a weapon as required (with relevant time penalties of course). Hell if we get dual wield I could see some cool pistol combinations being deployed in mixed mob combat situations.


With you on the damage types too, if implemented properly we probably won't need to tick every box. In fact we'd be well served now I think, if the perfomance of our pistols were a bit more comparable in punch. (I'm lamenting my weedy Striker pistol in particular lol, and I dread mobs with high stun, acid and energy resists)


I love the fact we're getting new weapons, I feel I just go through the motions with my current repetior, anything that add's variety and tactics is a major bonus in my book. SOE seem to be getting it so right lately I can hardly believe it,my only moan aboutthis new set of pistols is I'd like to see the Bryar pistol making an appearance, at least at some point.but then that's just cause I'm a difficult sod

I still want my time damage pistol. It fires bursts of tachyons that send the target back several seconds in time. He hits you with a mind poison DoT? No problem, just reverse it and run away before it hits you.


Orif we could get a water pistol....
