As usual, thank you for your efforts on our behalf. Any idea when he will finally make good on his "lovin" post to every profession? Seems he likes lying. Also, what is the detail of this rumor that they are Nerfing Fan Shot? Do you have ANY info on that at all?

Again, thanks go to you for your efforts..

Phil, you do an excellent job keeping the Pistoleer community up to date. I greatly appreciate it.

All professions should adopt the "weekly" update approach...even if only to saythatthere's no new news.

Thanks.

I've come to the conclusion that the developers may neverhelp the pistoleer profession since it's probably one of the highest dabbled professions. As a result, to the untrained eye, the BH hunter using stopping shot appears to be an UBER Pistoleer... or the smuggler knocking people down with Novice Pistoleer as their title makes people think Pistoleer is a great combat profession.

Since I've been playing asMaster Pistoleer for several weeks now, my feelings are the following:

  • Master Pistoleer pistol speed is too slow (+74).I suggest+85pistol speed for the Master Pistoleer.Master Pistoleers aresuppose to be the master of pistols -- give us a little more speed (ie. this gives us more options as far using a slightly slower pistol).

  • Body Shot 3 needs a higher DPS.

  • PMD2 should knockdown, do more damage than PMD1,and have less HAM costs. Maybe PMD2 should also have a chance to health-bleed the target.

  • DX2 is a very poor pistol (especially when compared to the Scatter Pistol).

Thanks for your efforts, Phil. You're awesome.

The only thing I don't like about the FWG5 <-> Republic Blaster switch is that the speed on on the RB is significantly slower on average than the FWG. On Starsider, the best speed (that I've seen) for a non-enhanced RB is2.5, while the best speed on a non-enhanced prenerf FWG was 1.7. You might not notice it with your BH pistol speed mods, but for master pistoleers without those BH speed mods, the slower speed hurts.

Nolan007, I agree with you for the most part, except on PMD2. I'd rather see it make a dizzy effect so it can be used with PMD1 for a nice combination.

Phil,

Thanks for the really good job that you do. Its nice to know that a rep.of your capabilitiesrepresents us to the Devs. I also like the way you often 'write between the lines' to give us information.

Like I said in my last update, I think that the Devs are making a big effort to improve the Correspondent program and to listen to our views. Nonetheless I've gotten the strong impression that our profession is very low on their list of priorities, so I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. I'll keep doing whatever I can to make sure our voice is heard.

Well, here is something for you. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but if they don't do anything to fix our profession, just quit, and let's make sure no one else in the pistoleer comunity takes up the position. If they are not going to fix the problems that you are reporting, then why do they need you to report them? If they won't fix us after this report, I don't think the correspondent program will EVER work, so I would suggest you don't waste your time. This is IF they do nothing to fix our profession. And remember, if you read something with a red name, Don't believe it untill you see it, its probably just alot of lip service to calm the masses!

1) COMMUNICATION WITH THE DEVS: On Friday I received a response from Thunderheart to the "Top 5 Issues" list he asked me to prepare a couple of weeks ago. I'm not allowed to reveal anything about his response at this time -- I'll leave that up to your imagination for the moment. I posted a very long and detailed response to him on Friday, and supposedly he's going to respond back to me and we'll have a back-and-forth about our issues before coming up with a final conclusion. I'm hoping that Thunderheart's final responses will be an improvement over the initial responses from him ... although, as always, don't get your hopes up too high. *shrug*

2) DEFENSES: A week ago I posted the results of a bunch of tests I ran of our defenses -- check out the sticky post for more details. Others have replied to the thread with their own test results, which are interesting as well. One of the biggest questions that people have right now is whether our defensive bonuses stack with the defenses from other professions. I don't have a solid answer to that question right now. Based on my tests and others, I don't think our Dodge defenses stack with the Dodge from Fencer -- if you have a pistol equipped, ONLY the Pistoleer bonuses apply. We need more data to be sure of this, however. There is some data that suggest that at least the Teras Kasi Defense v. Knockdown modifier stacks with other professions, although this could be unique to TKA because their defenses might not be tied down to a specific weapon. The bottom line is that we don't know enough about defenses and need to run a lot more tests. The TKA Correspondent and I have both asked the Devs to give us info, but so far we haven't received a response from them.

3) THE SPEED ISSUE: As many of you already know, the speed equation in the game is totally borked ... and for that reason "slow" rifles end up firing as fast or faster than our "fast" pistols. This is a major problem for the melee folks as well, particularly Fencers. I made the speed issue one of our "Top 5 Issues" and I'm trying to get a good response from Thunderheart on it, but on the side I'm also working with the Fencer and Brawler Correspondents to push this issue. The Fencer Correspondent has made this her #1 issue, so I think this is a good opportunity for us to work together to try to get a fix from the Devs.

4) REPUBLIC BLASTER: The Republic Blaster is now usable by ANYONE, even non-Marksman, without needing a certification. Now that many pistols have been nerfed it's probably the best pistol in the game. It has similar damage to a pre-nerf FWG5 but it's AR1 and spits out energy damage. IMPORTANT NOTE: Only new Republic Blasters work. Republic Blasters made before the latest patch still tell you that you're not certified to use them. I've asked the Devs to A) tell us how you get the certification, B) move the certification to the Pistoleer tree, and C) hotfix the old Republic Blasters so they work. No response.

5) DUAL WIELD: Earlier this week, Thunderheart said in a public post that dual wield is something the Devs have in the works, but it won't be added to the game for a long time. It will probably take many months.

They are busy for the next six to eight weeks getting the next big patch ready with the CH and Bio Engineer changes is my guess.

Bio Eng definitely needs some love its a lot worse off than pistoleer right now but the CH changes taking precedent bugs me alot. That class currently works not as they want it to but it does work.

I don't see why they would only be working on these two professions. Q has said that each profession has it's own 'head' Dev. I'm sure this 'head' Dev also has his own team for that profession. So why don't they just keep those dev's to their professions and fix them all together? The only other 'head' dev I have seen is Greenmarine, and as we all know he's in charge of the Architect profession. It's the only board he writes on and the only questions he answer's. They should have all of these Dev's post on here like Greenmarine does. A one on one basis. For all we know, he probably doesn't even know the webaddress to this forum!

Nice work Phil....but I'd like to suggest we not put too much emphasis on duel wield! Putting that on our list reminds me of when jaegen put twirly guns on our first list..asking for somethign that just isn't there makes EVERYONE think we're a perfect profession...if it happens great but I don't think we should push that right now, especially since we have more important issues that needs fixing.
