Hey everyone, I played a pistoleer in beta, and while I do not plan on mastering this profession all the way (because I am mastering smuggler and chef) I did advance far enough through the profession to know the good, the bad, and the ugly. If you have any questions please ask me as I will most likely be able to answer them. IMO, if you chose pistoleer as your profession, you made a wise choice. Their weapons are the fastest, do substantial damage, and the special moves are unmatched.

Was just curious, can Pistoleers dual wield pistols? What types of armor can they wear? Would it be viable to build a Pistoleer/Bounty Hunter? Thanks for any info.

Nope, there is no dual weilding for anything in this game.

Pistoleers can use all armor. Personally I prefer just a Personal Shield Generator and than a snazzy suit of clothing, as armor reduces your stats. I prefer using the Heavy Flightsuit that a Master Tailor can make, as it looks like the rebel flightsuit

You can be a BH and a Pistoleer, but you cannot max out both. My recommediation, if you wanted to be an uber BH, would be to max out BH and then dump the rest of your points into the good pistoleer stats so that you can be totally awesome with a pistol.

Thanks for that info.

So, should I save my train points until I can train Bounty Hunter?

there is no reason to "save" your points since you can unlearn things at any time

During beta, i was almost a master pistoleer w/ the pistol tree of the bh complete. It rocked. Body Shot 3 and Pistol Melee Defense 2(both expert pistoleers skills) are very powerful. I never used the bh pistol skills that much(even though they are cool as well.) A master pistoleer w/ the bh pistol tree is the farthest one can go with the pistol. The drawback is that u cannot master the bh and it takes a HELL of a lot of pistol xp to achieve all this.

why would you even want to gain that much pistoleer experience. The games kind of pointless if all you do is fight and hunt creatures. Im gonna be a pistoleer but am also planning to be as much of a creature handler as possible. The more things we can do the better

LordValadon (or anyone else that can answer me), I definitely have a question for you.

(Taken from my thread in the BH board)

I was in beta as well, but din't make it to Novice Bounty Hunter (Exploration IV ). But anyway.

I plan on being a Master Squad Leader as my primary profession, and I'd like to supplement it with some Pistol skills. I have 2 options:

A.) Master S.Leader and Master Pistoler, with a few skills left for Medic/Entertainer
B.) Master S.Leader and the complete Pistol tree of Bounty Hunrt, with barely enough skills left to get Novice Pistoler and the one skill that gives you Pistol Melee Defense 1 (so basically only one Pistoler skill)

Which would be better? Master Pistoler sure gives a lot of great stat upgrades, but I heard the BH Pistol skills owned all.

What are the opinions of the Beta BH's? (Even better would be someone that played both BH AND Pistoler... but I'll take anyone I can )

I'd say go for Pistoleer over the pistol skills in BH. Both Bodyshot2/3 and Health Shot are awesome skills that will take you far.

If you are a Pistoleer or a Carbineer and can afford to master scout which grants you great boosts to speed on rough terrain and creature knowledge you should definately train your corresponding tree from the Bounty Hunter profession. They give you large bonuses to accuracy and speed and also cool special moves, plus, this way you can run BH missions which pay well and lead you to find interesting loot from your marks.

I have a question about stat migration.

Is there any way that really maxxes out Pistoleer skills? Does the game do that automatically(probably not).

How should we set these, more action based or more focus based(what are more pistol powers based on?).

Thanks

Im going MAster pistoleer and master TKA with some scout skills and feign death from the smuggler, This should give a great puller and soloer.
