Template 1.

MBH
MP
MM
Carbs x3xx

Template 2.

MBH
MP
CM 4xxx

Any info you can give me on the second template especially, in comparison to the first, would be great, as I have tried the first but only have time for one last respec so if I spec to CM and dislike it I wont be able to respec back.

Template2 is my exact template (or it was before I starting playing around with Rifleman yesterday), and that's the one I would go with. I find the healing abilities indispensable. Just make yourself a macro with your stimpack + all the bactas and enhancers, and you can heal yourself back to 100% health (if you're not too badly damaged) in a single click. It's saved me from certain death more times than I can count.

Of course, the counter argument would be that if you have better offenses (Template 1), then you don't everneed to be able to heal yourself, but I have never bought into that argument.

I've tried both of these, preferred the first template but found going MP/MBH/SL x4x4 gives much better defences, better accuracy and only 5 less speed (though you of course lose the carbine specials).

I didn't like CM4xxx so much as the heals are pretty slow to take effect with longish warm up and cool down - even preceeding the heal with a KD I would usually get hit before I could fire again and I found it useless if getting beat on by 2 or more mobs of similar CL. Apparently you can use foods and stuff to mitigate this somewhat and it is still faster than using stims in any case.

So, the template that has worked best for me is MP/MBH/SL x4x4 - but out of the 2 you listed I would recommend number 1 with Stim D's and Ruby Bliel

The thing with healing is that you rotate all the heals you have to heal yourself every 2 seconds. For instance, with the CM/Doc that I have I can use:

bacta shot

bacta spray

bacta toss

bacta jab

bacta infusion

And then throw in any Stim D's if needed.

With CM 4/x/x/x you can do shot, spray, tossthen back to shot again. Then maybe a StimD and by that time the 15 second timer on spray and toss is over and you can cycle through those again.

That way you can heal yourself till you run out of mind or get ganked to the point where the damage you are taking is far more than you can heal.

Ok, stupidly didn't think of that...

But with all that healing do you actually get chance to shoot anything

Once you've healed up its back to blasting again.

A macro with all those heals actually doesn't take that long to run (I use one frequently). You do lose a few attack rounds, but it's not wasted time because you're bringing your health back to 100% so you can stay in the fight longer. I don't think I could live without my CM 4000 heals--I find them too indispensable, and have gladly given up a few combat skills to be able to use the heals.

Badger is right in other threads. Electrolyte drain is a beautiful thing. with just the basic electrolyte drain, I did a CL 82 bol mission and got chewed on exactly zero times. No need to heal when I'm not even getting bitten.

of course, this ain't gonna help against ranged PvE. (I don't PvP at all.)

How long does the basic one last?

I take it you never had any failures... I may try and free up some much needed skillpoints and drop to 4/4/x/1 CM. The improved version is far more than I need and Thyroid Rupture seems to be bugged for me, can't say I use Paralyze either.

don't have data on how often it stuck, since I just checked it against one mission lair then had to log off, but it stuck on each of those CL 82 bols.

I think it lasts over a minute. It's long enough to kill CL 82 bols, that's for sure.

Did you give up on your CM4000 line, Nifty? Are you finding Electrolyte Drain more helpful than the healing power?
