Thread: ok this is really starting to tick me off!!!

if u havent seen it yet look at the publish 7 updates. now look at all the professions and their updates and what not. now look at pistoleer all we get is rep pistol is moved to novice pistoleer. what the heck. why isnt our specials being fixed!!!!!!!!!!!! all the other professions r gettin what they need. now i know u r goin to say get another profession but the thing is i have worked hard to get pistoleer and if i would have none the freakin specials wouldnt work i would have wen rifleman or something. this is an outrage!!! DEVS pleaz pleaz fix these problems im pleading here. pistoleers deserve to get some kinda luv!!!

i totally agree with you, but you should know better to get excited when a new publish is hitting us, dont expect, if we all dont expect it, it will come. Getting yourself excited about it, will just hurt you when you find out they are not doing anything about it..l im not flamming you but im just stating some facts. Im sure you agree with me. It is an outrage but we pistoleers cant expect the devs to get to it, when they hardly listen to our pleas..... our day will come, and when it does we will be a great profession.

thanx for ur reply and yes i do agree with u. is pistoleer hasnt been changed thus far in the future maybe the devs have something big planned for the pistoleer profession

I feel your pain. If it werent for the geo sonic blaster I would have jumped onj the carbineer boat already


I believe the devs said they were working on it and I assume they are because if all the other professions are gettin revamped than why would they leave us out in the cold?

Only thing that would be nice is if we had an idea of what, and when. Right now all we get is the general feeling that something "great" is going to happen whenever the combat revamp comes out.


How long is that going to be? 2 months? 3 months? I've only been a Master Gunfighter for a couple weeks, and I've already clicked the surrender button on the profession twice, but couldn't go through with typing 'yes'. I put so many hours in to this profession, it would be a shame to drop it, but it gets old using the same old gun, using the same old fanshot, knowing only 25% of our stuff works. Meanwhile I am watching my TKM, fencer, carbine, and carbine friends knocking stuff down, making it dizzy, setting it afire, and generally kicking ass while I stand in the distance andfan away, just like I have been since I finished the Techniques line.

I totally disagree with waiting!!!


the Devs have done Nothing accept put a Republic blaster with bleed in for us (or anyone who shoots Pistol)


no specials have been fixed since this game started, something Great is NOT around the corner pistoleers are the redheaded stepchild, why ?


because there are no Pistoleer ubers


why?


because the profession is broke and way to much coding will be needed to repair it. and all this recoding will affect everyone.\,not just pistoleers. I believe they are ignoring us intentionally (yes ignoring) hoping we will all just get another skill line.


I started out to be pistoleer,and am not a 'grinder' I saw nothing in 8 months (4 of which my account was cancelled) reopened and found the same mess

Fairly new, but already ticked off at how poorly the pistoleer specials work, but now I am VERY disappointed with Fan Shot.


I am climbing the pistoleer ladder and i have found it highly frustrating when my clan mates just starting TKA, master it in a 2-3 weeks and I have been working on pistols since January 1. It was particularly disappointing when i got Fan Shot and still get hitsas low as200 point range at point blank range with my sliced, advanced DX2 Pistol. Heck, my non-special attack usually can do better than that. I take great pains to be sure my Fan Shot is only on one target when I tested it. Maybe I should be fanning multiple targets, but when big critters close on you, the cone of fire closes in on one target pretty fast. So, the multiple target feature of Fan Shot seems pretty limited in value.


I am only 1-1-4-2 in pistoleer, so I will save final judgement when I finish, still, it seems the offensive power of this profession is pretty poor. From the defensive end, TKA also recovers faster from incapps and can heal wounds themselves. I would think that was okay if PvE targets stayed out at range, but they close to point blank rapidly anyway and we take hits just as frequently as TKA .

It's all coming in the combat revamp, which the devs say will come after publish 7 and then we will get SE.


When you think about it, it doesn't make sense to fix our specialsnow and then they might need to change something with them later.....that's just extra work....so It probably benefits everyone to wait for the revamp....I'd rather they get it right than to just temporarily fix something that I'll get used to and then change it again a few months later in the revamp.


Also, something that I wanted to say is that some of the specials that we have been saying are broken are not actually broken by the devs standpoint. for instance, Theres a post somewhere that basically describes how multitargetpistol shot is supposed to work and that the devs have stated that it is working as they intended it to....basically it has been fixed, although not to the liking of the swg communty.


one of the problems with this community is that we make all these post that says specials should do this or be that way or another way....and after months of reading all these post we start to believe that when or if a particular special is changed that what we have been asking for is how it's gonna be.....but often times it's not...because the devs have the bigger picture in mind and once again we hear that all to famaliar word....."""""""""BALANCE""""""""""" sure they can change any special at any time but the final judgement on how, when, why and to what degree a special should be changed all comes down to balance.


They've already proven this in the past when they call themselves fixing a problem with one profession all the while it impacts other profession positively or negatively. Look at all the nerfs they made to try and balance things but then look at the adverse effect on the game as a whole......now you have rifleman running around faster and more powerful than every profession except maybe commandos.....and then you have the defense stacking problems.......with the upcoming crafting changes, you'll probably see a significant drop in quality armors and weapons too......


just remember that fixing one problem impacts many other areas than just the problem itself because everything is tied in together. This is why they have decided to do the combat revamp.....mainly because they now see all the flaws and that they can't simply fix and balance everything without making more bugs and exploits.


Just be patient....if the wait is too long for you, then cancel your account and subscribe later after the Space Expansion comes out.....no need to waste your money when your not satisfied right.


One more thing, The little bit of changes to the other combat professions in pub 7 are not that significant where it will impact the gameplay more when pub 7 goes live than how it is now. So what they fixed a few animations in fencer, nerfed thespecial effects onturrets,vehicles and such.....and they changes carbineers fullautoshots etc. Those changes won't make that much of a difference and they are also small parts of the combat revamp.....the devs did state they will be rolling out small parts of the revamp.....they stated that on the launch pad when the last publish went live.......Ok so this time around they only moved a certification for pistoleers.....but like I stated above, some of the specials we think are broken are actually not....it's just that the descriptions of the specials were not changed when some of the specials were changed.....another mistake by the devs.


Basically, I'm not truely gonna believe something is broken until a dev comes out and says that it is broken or not working as they intended it to. Sure somethings are obvious like the descriptions not match what the special actually does.....but just like multitarget was changed and everyone still thinks it's broken.....other specials can potentially be the same (not all, but some).


final note.....who says that every little change is actually listed in the pub 7 notes.....as we know the devs do make a lot of mistakes....this could be another one.......remember the little change to krayts of pre-nerf FWG's was changed last publish and it wasn't in the notes either. Oh and now I have a bug where I can't even call my non-ch mounts out even though they are level 10 and under....but I ain't complaining.......they just get in my way....LOL

Hmm, It took me from october to about late december / early january to master pistoleer.....mainly because I didn't grind and did more than fight. I did some medic, surveying and sampling, crafting, exploring.....and everything else the game has to offer.....but I know I could easily level pistoleer in a couple of weeks and only playing a few hours a day, not powergaming either.


As for the low range of your specials, you can't get any values lower than the minimum damage of your weapon * 1.5. Also, your techniques when fighting will most of the time make your damage output lower than normal.....I fought for a long time before I figured that out. You will consistantly get higher number ranges in damage if you fire from the best range for your weapon and you are not running around too much. Kneeling and going prone (I don't recommend going prone though) will get you very high damaging shots more often then normal. just mess around a bit and keep track of the damage you do in certain situations with particular enemies.


I can simpathize with you on the low damage though.....when I was around the same level as you, I was disappointed with doing very little damage and all the broken specials.....but since I've become master that all has changed. My fanshot usually consistantly hits for 1000 - 1500 on single and multiple targets. I still remember the days when I could barely break 400 damage as a novice.....but I hung in there.


As for the defensive end of the spectrum, assuming you haven't been a master pistoleer before, you don't have the defensive boxes from the profession yet, so How can you judge them. You certainly can't compare them to TKA or any of the brawler classes, they are supposed to be better defensively. for one, they have to stay within melee range to even be effective.....pistoleers have the option to do melee and mid-ranged fighting.....with the bugs, we can even do long range fighting as well....
