Thread: Combat balance delayed, what should be our priority for the interim fixes?

I have been very disappointed in the recent delays and direction the dev's have taken with this game. But, since we do have an opportunity to have our correspondant pass along fixes for the interim (most likely till Jan or Feb of 2005), what should we ask for? My preferences are below, I hope everyone will restrain flames of others so this cna be a meaningful post.


1. Increase the AP (we should at least have one AP2) and damage of at least some of our weapons to make us more viable in PvP and high-end PvE.

2.Make disarm shot 1 and 2 a warcry affect with 1 being a single shot and 2 being a AoE (cone).

3. Make pistol melee defense 2 a kd/dizzy attack.


I think these three changes will be significant enough to make us a more enjoyable while we wait for the combat balance. Also don't think any ofthe changes will be difficult in programming due to them already existing in some form in teh game.

If they do this, they'd have to make it so that hitting someone with a KD while they're KD'd would NOT pop them up, while keeping the 30 sec timer, so if the dizzy didn't stick we could keep hitting it.


Well, they should do that anyway, regardless of a pistol special with KD/Dizzy

KD/Dizzy is all but extinct in PvP. With almost everyone having a SL bot running, you will never dizzy them for more and 2 seconds. I guess that would be the most logical thing to have it do though.

I like those three suggestions.


But more importantly I want a Rifleman balance.

I love all the suggestions above. I especially like the melee defence being a dizzy/kd because me being mbh/m pistoleer and with the weapon delay it's pretty much useless for me to switch to carbine to try and dizzy/kd someone.

Then how about "Remove weapon delay for BH's"


Even though this is about Pistoleers, there are many Pistoleers with Expert BH.

Even though this is about Pistoleers, there are many Pistoleers with Expert BH.







Because Pistoleer by itself is not viable in PvP.


90% Composite.


Uber buffs.


Stun Shield generators.


And our best weapons are AP1... but only to the major resists of composite armor.


Yay.

Fixing our specials so they are all viable at master should be top priority IMO, it's kinda sad that our master level abilities are never used.

I used /multitargetpistolshot a few times.



But Fanshot is a lot faster. It seems to take forever for Multitargetpistolshot to actually deliver damage to all of the targets.

In TH post asking for a one sentence what to fix in combat, I posted.


Fix all the broken specials in combat professions. I would also say increase our defences, but I only had one sentence there.



This is only one of the problems with pistoleer. But the others like the speed problem, AP and what not would probably require more coding. And frankly I would rather not see them do lame things like just up something to AP temporarely, or temporarely increase damage on pistols. Not to mention, that would effect people outside of pistoleer. Not that they don't need fixes, but let them get it on their own.


I see our broken/redundant specials as a very large hinderance. I do pretty well in PvE considering I'm pistoleer and ranger. I can't even imagine how I would do with all my specials working and doing something useful.


For example I see doubletap should be very fast. Much faster then fanshot, stoppingshot, and bodyshots. It needs to be extremely fast, like no speed increase at all, with moderate damage. This is for the fast take down of something solo maybe. Stopingshot should be really high damage, like our second highest damage of them all, but very slow. Hits hard as hell, but slow, more of something to use in groups. I see Fanshot as not really needing much to fix/change.

Our highest damage special with moderate speed, should be pointblanksingle2. This is, as I stated before, to compensate for being so close to someone. That has two parts. We took the time and got out of cover to run up to the ranged opponent while they had free fire at us, until we get up to do our work. With the melee people we go against, well we are now in melee attack range, enough said. I see the pointblanksingle shots as the pistoleer jabbing the pistol up against the enemies body in a vital spot and firing away. This would do serious serious damage to anything, especially into a vital spot. Soooo, with the balance of extreme high damage on pointblanksingle2, we are leaving ourselves open to ranged attacks while advancing, or getting into dangerous melee range. This special needs to be higher damage then all other specials, even the stopingshot.

And you realize that pistolmelee def 2 is supposed to be a KD. So if it gets fixed, I'm all for adding dizzy, or stun. Think of it. A pistol guy runs up to you, smacks you across the head with his holding a pistol so hard you fall down. I think I would be dizzy and or stunned for sure.

What they did for Carbineers they can easily do for Pistoleer.



Make the specials work.

I think they should make MTPS an AoE that hits EVERYTHING at once, instead of just cycling through the nearby targets and shooting them one by one.
