I was rummaging thru some old weapons i had and came across a old krayt republic pistol i had from way back and its the best DPS i have atm. Is Dps the new way to tell if its good or do we still go by the max damage?

hard to tell.

higher dps = steady amount of damage ( best option PVE)

Higher max damage = burst damage ( best option PvP for me)

DPS is the most impoertant stat now, it takes into account average damage of your weapon and it's attack speed.

Better than any of my krayted guns, 460 is my best DPS with pure pistoleer on my DX2 made with 80 tissues, but then I did plough all my decent tissues into DE-10's.

Probably get a krayt Republic made next.

Honestly it is doubtfull.

It's like the following scenario, I have a bazooka..can hit you for 3100 dmg, but each shothas a interval of 3 seconds, you have a rifle, can hit for 1600 but fires at 1.5 interval. we both have 3000 hps. I shot, you shot. who wins? me, since i killed at first shot.

Who had higher dps? you.

Problem here is average... but if one looks at the combat log, you'll always hit each different lvl monster for almost the same damage when using a special. So altough my mdps with my Ad. Scatter is atm 756, the advanced critical shot on a 80 lvl monster is always ~1400,,, but with my de-10 (mdps 728) the same special produces 1600 dmg . Considering that due to my pistol speed +general speed ( almost 150) i can hitvery fast with both weapons ( 0.82 and 0.94 secs if i'm not mistaken) , themdps value starts to pale a bit, specially if one considers that shotting faster = reducing action bar extremely fast.

Any way, I'm not dogmatic and this is the result of my empiric experience with the CU once i got more than 120 speed.

Ase, in terms of long battles, even 1 on 1 battles (i.e. jedi or just dueling) I believe Action cost far outways a fairly sizeable difference in DPS. Just my two cents, but if you hammer away and they live and heal up, and your out of action, your in trouble. We are now a slave to the action bar and the cost of our specials. I currently have some pistols cooking in my factories and ill do some testing but im convienced that a uber damaging high special cost weapon might be second rate if you can only hit 10 specials with it before your out of action, compared to the lower ham moderate DPS weapon. We need to get a real hand on this because we all fall into the pre-CU mentality (i do too) that damage is the best, when it is now simply another component of the big equation. Additionally, I really need to get a handle on food's as they play a huge roll in action regen as well.

With that said, the only saving grace that i see for the pre-cu weapons in general is that they have fairly low action cost to begin with. An example would be the last pre-cu run of scatters i made have much lower action cost than a similarly made scatter experimented to about the same damage using all post-cu parts, and using the same resources.--with this said, Ive only had time to make one post cu scatter with the exception to those currently cooking as mentioned above.

Real nice thoughts here.

If your gun has good action cost, then yes, 555 DPS is quite awesome.

I'm not on my home computer so can't be exact.

my total speed atm with tapes should be 148, without tapes is 130. After 140 speed i noticed that the increase in speed by skills starts to have what i would call "diminuitive returns", meqning that it decreases the speed by small fractions of second, while the affect over slower weapons is slightly more noticeble. One example was that, when i had 137 speed, the difference in MDPS between the scatter and the de-10 was about 40 dps more to the scatter... now with almost 150 speed , the dps difference is just 23 or 24.

The base the dps of the scatter I don't know honestly. Have to check it at home. It's a pre nerf krayted scatter that got a 28% dmg slice like 2 years ago, and had Pre CU about 500 max dmg powered up with speed bellow 2.0. The max damage now is around 920 but it's one of the fastest pistols I own currently.

the de-10 has, if i recall correctly, 360 base dps. Max damage clean is 971, the speed honestly i don't know, but pre-CU had 3.1 ( most de-10 had around between 3.4 and 3.6secs) and 72Xdmg once damage sliced and powered up. From all the +950 dmg de-10 I own ( and i own 5 or 6) it is still the fastest one by at least 0.2 secs ( if not 0,25).

Where are you getting all that extra speed, i have 105 speed just from MBH MP, have +18 in speed tapes and +45 in accuracy. Your scatter must have gotten more love than mine. Mine was .6 560 max powered pre-cu, now its 317 base DPS. Well i have some 150 tissues going into a scatter and republic, also got some 198's i'm gonna put in a scatter too. I wanna figure out if the speed on my weapon is even worth getting experimented on once i get my total of +50 speed tapes goal. I'llprobably add the FS ranged speed to that also lol.

yeah thats what i thought, i'm starting to debate if i should still do 0003 cm. I'm sure paralyze is gonna get a big nerf. But you know how swg treats that stuff, takes forever if they ever fix it.
