Thread: Ranged + melee defence.. c'mon this is getting sick..
I am a master gunfighter, rogue, and fencer. I went aginst a TKM/Sharpshooter tonight and im guessing he was dabbling some more ranged defence. He ran out of the building im like... woah im buffed, he has 500 health and action and i have 3k/3k/1300 pools this should be easy. Then after missing with 17 strait shots using my rebublic blaster while we were both standing still... then i hit him wiht startle and then missed him 6 more times as he im guessing came back form being afk or was just playing wiht me killed me in the span of 5-6 seconds with his jawa.. Is it me or does Ranged defence need a good nerf beating, i mean not totally but this has happend before, once u ge over 150 ranged D pistolier is a waste of my pools and i just /burstrun or get close enough to fight with fencer (every hit lands mostly). I think it just just not stack anymore or rethought, i mean **edit** is ranged defence anyway? anyone know what skill a person learns that'd make another person less accurate and what makes a guy be able to turn into unhittable just because he collects a few more boxes then most of us have.

Were you in CoB? I seem to find Pistoleer/Fencers harder to hit than Rifle/TKA specs. If he hit you that many times in a row, I'll be he was centered and you were not.
Come on scott_ray nothing personal here but dont you think you might be a little biased. I mean after all you have one of the templates everyone is complaining about.
Im not taking sides in this but your post seemed a little out of line considering.
Next time I came from the cloner all I did was hang back and spam delays at him. He killed me last and I hit once the whole time.
I know the wielder of this template and he is a great guy, but freakin un-hittable. Tell me this is balance.
Hmm...did you use any of your unarmed skills to debuff this person? Intimidate & Warcry are your friends against anyone hard to hit. Get some Bio-clothes too with bonuses in those areas (form fitting undershirt & rank sash allow you to wear them plus full armor) for a better chance to stick.
Your correspondent said you had all the skills you need to put up a good fight...theyare right...though I would have thought they would have been a little more forthcoming with the tips instead of saying what they did...

Just to clarify, the template we are concerned with isn't the Fencer/gunfighter combo, it's the TKM/Sharpshooter combo. Yes we were all runnin and gunnin, one doesn't let a TKM close if one can help it. Why the Rebuplic? I dunno, I do know that I was using my launcher, then switched to my FWG for better speed. Didn't help with my hit rate.
Intimidate, warcry, stun can be your friends. They will counter such defenses. Particuarrly intimidate and stun.
Also as much as possible you should try and close to melee range with them. The accuracy isn't really bad if your right up close with a good weapon. DX2 and republic blasters are horrible choices against these guys. A scout blaster will be far more unfriendly to them as the accuracy is way better.
Most opponents our range doesn't seem to make a huge difference, but I can tell you when fighting against an opponent with high level defenses closing the gap is a good thing.
