Hmm, lets see...

What buffs do you use?

What armour have you got?

What is your opening attack?

What other attacks do you use?

How do you find yourself losing, in what way? Mind damage.. DoTs?

You may be a while finding your feet with your template in PvP, some PvP'ers have had the same template for over a year and know it inside and out... if you come up against someone like that, when in your own works you've just finished your template, then it's gonna be hard work for you.

Never fear, a bit of practice and the right equipment and you'll have your revenge.

Hmm. Pick your targets. Pistoleers have high melee def, so don't tangle with riflemen and carbineers. Go for the melees. They also have little or no ranged mitigation. Go for the commandos, Docs, CM's.If you PvP alot, you know that it's the team that wins, not the individual. Run around with a PvP "buddy" who is a melee, like a swordsman/doc, or TKM/Doc. That way, you have all the bases covered.

The real problem with pistols is that you don't have enough room for the cool shots and enough Doc to heal states, so you get dizzy and posture changed or DoT'ed to death.

If you must tangle with riflemen/carbines, use your mobility to your advantage. Break LoS, run, heal, come back. Get some decent mind DoT weapons of your own. Can't heal? Vercupti or Pixie will get you to the doc, and his heals.

The imbalance in rifles is that you can do master rifleman/master Doc and still have points left. The smart guys do enough Doc to heal everything (to heal states) and master riflemen, or they do master CM/Master Rifles. Pistoleer/doc is pretty weak on offense, but good on defense.

I am a Novice Pistoleer - 2/2/0/4 CM - Master Medic and I usually have a good 2500 buff w/ 2 shots of brandy. I'm fine except when I come into contact with a Jedi (Need to get a damn PSG)!

yeah I need to get one too thanks for the reminder. Also, I'm well aware of the fact that going aganst a rifleman or carbineer would end up in my demise.. but I guess its mostly my falt in that im kind of skirting the whole medic thing.. i dont wanna h ave to put points into it because its so expensive (point wise) but I guess I'll just keep at it...

eat piketta pie. eat a synthsteak before fight, then switch to exo protein wafers. stay CLOSE to rifleman, withen 8m. with a Bh carbines/ carbineer template, you are screwed if they know what they are doing, thry have multi pool shots, which wear out synth fast, crippling shot is evil, plus they can land all states on you except intimidate. oh, they have insane accuracy mods to.

Hmm lets see...

around 2500+ foods... I dont use much more then brandy most often so im sure that has alot to do with it.

A set of stun around 39- 40% and a kenetic grinding set.

most of the time in pvp depending on what they are i might go for an eye shot to get one of the only states pistoleer can do. or maybe bleeds.

torso shot, stopping shot..eye shot

I find myself not doing good enough damage most of the time catching a dizzy kd or somthing and taking it like a B***h mind dmg does the trick and the dreaded mind dots...all of the above but thanks for the encouraging words

To avoid KD/Dizzy, get some Ithorian Mist (Def Vs Dizzy food) and Thakitillo (Def Vs KD) and eat that as soon as you get into a fight, your base pistoleer defences will stack with it and you will be very hard to put down.

If you get dizzy and posture down, use /kipup shot to get up, not /stand and dont run forward as this will have you flopping around kd/dizzy.

I'd recommend getting your hands on some DoT guns, the tougher faction troops introduced with the GCW changes are dropping some great DoT weapons... get to your faction stronghold and get farming... you never know when you will loot that mind fire gun that will change the odds in your favor.

What kind of guns are you using?

You use that stun set for PvP, right? And the Ubese for PvE?

As I have enough medic to give me full heals, I only use a stun layered helm... plus I have 55% stun resist on my ADK PSG, the rest is all triple 80 advance comp... I chop and change between the triple 80 helm and the stun one as and when its needed.

If you are getting trouble from CM DoTs, make sure you get resist buffs... they can help a lot. And if you do come up against a rifleman or carbineer, get right up to them using suppression and give em an intimidate, PMD1 and warcry while you lay into them.

I found this template very tough without a doc or someone to tank etc to help me out.

I missed medic too much so I dropped smuggler and commando and kept novice brawler for intimidate and warcry so I can handle a rifleman a little easier as long as I'm blinding him too with eyeshot.

That leaves me

Master Pistoleer

BH0040

Medic 0040 for meduse 40 stims and big heals

Novice Brawler

Nice selection of high damage pistols

Sliced comp/PSG

It's prolly just me but I suck without medic, even with foods, steak, equilibrium, spices etc.....I mean, I use all of them anyway so medic is the top priority for me. A carbineer who knowsmy template will tear me apart with no medic. The lag pistol is handy for blast damage but is it that much use pvp? I don't know.

I never used FD in pvp much at all unless I knew some friends were on their way, I miss lowblow sometimes but since I dropped smuggler I remembered how useful suppression fire is. However, lowblow and lastditch are 2 things I'll have to learn to live without for now.

All pistols temlpate is awesome in the right group but I like to roll solo sometimes and this template does me a lot more favours

There's some pretty good advice in this thread about how to manage when the sh1t hits the fan, anymore tips anyone?

an ADK 60% base psg helps in pvp. And I'd pick up the smuggler dirty fighting line. Low Blow Panic Shot and Last Ditch are essentials.

Anyone notice a sad common theme in the advice given here? DOT's. The game just doesn't seem to be very playable unless you go farm npc's for DOT weapons(I've never looted a decent pistol with DOT and rarely see them on trade froums) or you have to have a lot of doctor in your template I know this isn't at all what I signed up for when I joined SWG on launch day after following the game for 2 years prior. Don't tell me to leave SWG, I love the game but just can't find myself PvP'ing until the ridiculous DOT's and Doc requirements are out of the equation.

I don't use DOT's and I do pretty damn good with all pistols. Well the only DOT i use is torso shot hehe.
