Thread: should I drop Pistoleer and go for Rifleman?

I'm a novice pistoleer (1/1/2/1) and I was thinking about stopping and going rifleman, because I've heard of how great it is. Should I drop pistoleer and go for rifleman or hold on and hope that the revamp changes pistoleer completely?

Keep in mind that I still have Rifles 1....I haven't used rifles since I got the game (after the first day.) I'm not sure what to do.

I mastered rifleman a few months ago. I'm dropping it for carbineer. I've had pistoleer, so that's why I didn't go that route (do'nt want to level again hehe). If you don't mind being constantly drunk on brandy and filled with canape, go for it. Rifle sucks for the mind cost of the specials. The defenses are okay, but nothing compared to pistoleer. Stay the course, friend. Of course, this is my opinion. Many riflemen would disagree with me.

how do you like to play? pvp or pve? do you want to just own, or play to enjoy the game? If you are just into owning, with current systems in place... rifleman is prolly your better bet unless you wanna stack dodge from fencer

Actually the Combat Balance is coming and Rifleman is being totally revamped(Funny that the only profession with all it's specials and abilities working is being totally redone).

I can notgive a good assement ofRifleman because we don't know what it will become, now I can say that this board has alot of helpful and active members who will help you out and except you intoour commune no matter what strange defects of character you might have. But as far as this profession goes we are all going to be starting over, Masters and Newbies alike, We don't have a clue if these changes will work or not because we don't know the total big picture yet.

We don't have time to discuss this in a committee.

Right now, I would go for rifleman. You'll shoot just as fast as any pistoleer and do 2-3 times the damage. I wouldn't give up rifleman too quick. Every profession is getting nerfed hard when combat balance comes out. IMO rifleman will actually live up to it's intended purpose, a support profession. From what I've heard (and read) CH won't see too many nerfs when the combat revamp comes out. I'm thinking of picking up some CH...

But as we don't know what the hell "Support Profession" means(ie maybe it means Imp Riflemen supporting Reb's with easy FP.)we can not tell you if rifleman will be abetter choice or worse choice then pistoleer.

If you are currently a Pistoleer I say wait for the Combat Balance which is going to happen in 3 months. If you can not wait, OK go rifleman, but you might not be happy with what the developers turn us into.

i'm a pistoleer right now and i agree that riflemans specials and abilities are working. but i also think that rifles need a small speed nerf... i posted a type of balance before which i think would work but most would think its not balance becuase the damage wouldn't be the same for all 3 marksman proffesions.

but back on topic. i love pistoleer but i also loved rifleman when i had it. Pistoleer isn't good by itself tho so if you don't mind using up your skill points to become great then pistoleer is the way to go but if you need to use your skill points then i'd say rifleman. On the pvp issue its really up to you.. if you pick up BH pistols to augment your pistoleer then you'd have a mind shot (eye shot) and great defenses... but rifleman gets a mind shot and a light armor piercing rifle.. and they can pick up pistoleer or fencer for defense.. so its all up to you.

Expect the worst and hope for the best and you'll never be disappointed.

What the h3ll am I supposed to do then? I can't be support in 2 professions, and who ever heard of a big game hunter using Pistols? a Sword? Please stop thinking in PvP only, this game is MUCH bigger then that... or it sure as h3ll should be...

Pistoleer is a fairly worthless profession at the moment.

1) Half of the specials do not work.

2) Half of the specials that do work are useless.

3) Pistoleers have no advantage over rifleman at the moment. (Rifleman fire more-or-less at the same speed as pistoleersthanks to the dev's inept coding/testing.)

4) Rifleman can solo just about anything (PvE) in the game.

5) Rifleman can solo just about anything (PvP) in the game.

I recently dropped Pistoleer after starting the profession out of boredom. Even on a 'whim' the profession has no value. (Except maybe for some dodge mods.)

I would recommend Rifleman. At the moment, Pistoleer is amassive waste of a time and effort.
