I'm sorry if this has been suggested before. I've read alot of the dual wield proposals and I haven't seen this approach mentioned before though. As I see it alot of you would like dual wield only to be added for master pistoleers, where as others would like it to be accessible to lower levels as well. I think I may have come up with an idea for both groups to be satisfied. If not, then may this thread sink into the bottomless void that is these forums.
First and foremost, I think we have to recognise the fact that the developers are not likely to add something as code intensive as dual wield only to satisfy a handfull of master pistoleers and master fencers (for dual swords). Therefor my approach allows dual wield for other classes as well.
The Proposal.
Some would like to see dual wield as a form of certificate you get at the master level, where as I would like to see it as a skill you obtain and get better at, starting in the marksman profession.
You would get a +5 here, a +10 there and each gun would have a difficulty level to dual wield.
I haven't set up an actual plot for how much each skill box should give you in dual wield but I would like to see master pistoleers capable of dual wielding any pistol in this game and other professions, such as smugglers, bountyhunters and such being capable of dual wielding some or all of the marksman pistols.
This would mean that BH cannot dual wield scatters or any of the high end guns but Master Pistoleers can dual wield their high end guns and also the high end guns of other professions if they have dabbled into their field and obtained the certs.
This means many professions have the capability to dual wield but Master Pistoleers would reign supreem.

I like it very much.. especially after I've heard that they're planning on making lower level guns better and spreading them out within the trees.

It shouldn't really use up any more skill points because the dual wield skill in marksman would all be under the pistol tree. There's no point in adding dual wield to the carbine and rifle tree really. And the skill ammount you would get from the pistol line in marksman and from the pistoleer profession should be enough to wield any gun at the master level.
BH, Smugglers and the like would receive a skill bonus from their profession as well but not nearly as much as pistoleer. It would not be enough to dual wield any of the higher end guns like scatters and such.

the only problem i see is that some pistols now can be as powerful as carbines without the ap. sobeing able to have2 would change that sinse 0 ap against light armor reduces the dmg by half

there should be always another perk in master in every prof to avoid "template stackers" get the best of both worlds like they do, if you stick to master 1 prof you should be rewarded with something more then a special (ex, new master weapon or dual wielding)

First of all, this idea has absolutely nothing to do with the benefits of dual wielding. That has to be discussed somewhere else. I know that wielding two highend guns can be overpowered if their accuracy and damage is unmodified for two pistols, there would and most likely will, be some sort of accuracy decrease or damage decreace for wielding two guns. But like I said, this idea has nothing to do with the benefits. It only deals with how one goes about getting dual wield.
While I agree that masters should always get something great in order to reduce dabbling, this idea deals with just that. Only a Master Pistoleer will be able to dual wield any and all pistols. The rest will have to be satisfied with dual wielding marksman pistols.
I'm only coming up with this idea because I think it may increase the chances of the developers actually adding dual wield somewhere down the line. Dual wield is very code intensive, they would pretty much have to change the entire way of how you equip weapons and probably even come up with a new interface box for showing what you have equipped and where. I really don't see the developpers going through that much trouble to satisfy only the master pistoleers and the master fencers. If you give more people a chance of using dual wield, you increase the chances of the developers actually adding it to the game.

The idea of different pistols being better or worse for dual wield is nice. Also, if we're dual wielding, must we have the same pistol in each hand?
I would think we would, otherwise we could have stun damage in one hand and energy in another, and I doubt they'd let that happen.
And scout blasters would have to be the best dual wielders...I mean they're tiny!

Well, why not let you use different guns in each hand. That way a person who isn't a master pistoleer can have their good gun in one hand and a lesser gun in the other, plus a fencer could have a large sword in one hand and a lighter one in the other.
