Thread: The Pistoleer Grinding Guide ver 1.0

I've found it helpful to always have a backup plan. Get some medic skills and some stimpacks. Be quick to set up a camp near your quarry so you can quickly call pets and/ormounts for a hasty escape when things get rough.
If you're going after one of the seemingly most popular Pistoleer hybrids, TKA/Smuggler/Pistoleer, go through Teras Kasi Artist first. Meditating is always helpful after a tough excursion away from civilization, and having a powerful melee profession such as Teras Kasi Artist is definately helpful when you're in trouble.
(By the way, nice blatant ripping off of Deus Ex quotes
)

All I've got with me is a pistol and an electric prod. I don't mind a test, but UNATCO better issue some hardware.

Thanks for the Deus Ex references, Randon! Ah, what a game, what a game...![]()
It would have been more fitting to say "All I've got with me is a CDEF Pistol and a Stun Baton..." but I won't gripe.
woooooT for DX!

Obviously, a real pet to help in the tanking department would be highly advantageous. Picking up a little Creature Handler or befriending one to group with goes a long way toward making this easier. Someday, maybe we'll have worthwhile combat droids.
The LE Repair droids can have 6k HAM but do a lot less damage. They make excellent tanks.

Different droids can also play different roles in combat as well. I forget which model it is, but one droid can trade in less damage for larger HAMS (about double that of the probot) and others can be a balance between the two.
First suggestion to add, FORT TUSKEN. No cash payouts but you can grind at a rate of more than 100k Exp an hour there. A novice pistoleer with a droid or pet guard can handle it fine.
Second suggestion augments the droid tank idea, get a probot with nothing but auto-repair. It does 1 damage per hit so it doesnt diminish your xp but still manages to distract your foes. With good numbers on the auto repair rating you will never have to use a repair kitthus saving time and cash.
The easiest way I found to grind was actually a 2 for 1.
I'd buff up and head to Dant with my trusty sidekick (an AT-ST) and run faction missions. I know it's not the easiest way, but it was all ranged opponents, so the damage mitigation we get was a plus rather than fighting melee mobs. And after awhile the missions do get easier...I promise. ![]()
And as to which line to go up.... Hit the specials line first (of course), then accuracy and then finally the grips line

Oh I ment to add that I didn't take the AT-ST out with me to run the missions, of course that would be an easy way to accomplish the mission, but not helpful in acquiring xp, I generally kept it safe in a faction:rebel banned facility ![]()

And since I enjoyed the quotes from my favourite game (next to Ultima 7 and Torment) you get a bonus star.
USE POINT BLANK AREA
If you are buffed, and wearing decent kinetic armor and have some brandy what you do is grab some baz nitch missions, and go right next to the lair, then just keep spamming Point blank area 1. Its so fast and if you use I beleive a fwg5 the baz nitches are vulnurable to it you can tear through them fast, and multiple targets at once. I found that I was hitting all targets for around 400 dmg per shot but was shooting about one time per second. I was even soloing rancors with my dx2 pistol (acid) using this method. I raked in so much pistols xp in a day I was able to get the last 3 boxes easily in one day. That's about 900k xp.
I wouldn't recommend point blank area 2 that you get in the dodge column, its too slow compared to the small amount of extra damage you get.
Anyways, give it a try.
