Thread: Help with X-wing Layout
The x wing can be set up to be a really nice ship IMO. The one I had set up had alot of REed parts though, everything but the armor was REed.
If I was to set one up one with shipwright parts off hand I'd try three cert 7 guns, cert 5 DI and reactor, use the cert 6 reward engine you should have (get it REed if you have the parts), some light armor cert 5, a REed cert 2 capacitor (running weapon overload 3 you should need bigger), a RE cert 2 or 4 booster and as big a sheild generator as you can fit in (cert 7 or 9, probably the 7).
I think that would make for a nice pve ship, IMO anyway and if I'm guessamating correctly should fit in. If you do decide to go for alot of shipwright parts you might want to wait for the next publish that will givedancers buffs for shipwrights.
As for loadout, I would use this:
Reactor - Mark I 1k mass 12.5k energy
Engine - Mark IV 13.5k mass
Booster - Mark I 1k mass
Shield - Mark IV 16k mass
Armor - A pair of Mark II panels if you want a missile launcher. Mark III if you do not.
Droid Interface - Mark III 2600 mass 18 Speed
Capacitor - Mark III quick recharge
Weapons - 3xAdvanced Blasters with quickshot upgrades - 0.26 speed
CM - Sensor Decoy or Chaff launcher.
You need to run reactor overload 4 with this setup. I wouldn't worry too much about decaying the reactor running RO4, it's crafted and Mark I reactors are pretty cheap. Capacitor overload 3 or 4 and weapon overload 3 would be useful too, especially with the way 3 quickshot blasters can drain a capacitor.
Much appreciated with the advice, looks like my best bet is to chase after the Adv. X wing cert and do themission for it, I think I can get some help in that area too.
I tried outfitting the regular x-wing and man it is tough to get a good load out and max it's capabilities (the 3 weapons)

Hi there,
I just finished Tier 3 and started doing the Duty Missions for Tier 4. My heavy Z-95 has been adequet up till now, but the 2 extra weapon holds for the X-wing makes me think I can be doing better. I'm having a hard time trying to get a decent layout without sacraficing a great deal of manuverabilty and having problems with energy for weapons. So far my tactics with the Z-95 have been to out manuvuer my enemies and get behind them and blast away, I do pretty well piloting my Ship with a joystick. Do I need to come up with something new for the X-wing? I can keep ,yself alive doing the duty missions but it takes me more time now to defeat the tier 4 Tie's and when i do escort missions I tend to lag behind the new spawns some and the ship I'm supposed to escort doesn't always make it through.
Grinding the 1 million XP for 4333 in the heavy Z95 is very easy. Take the destroy duty mission from the tier 4 rebel trainer in Nym's hotel (tier 4 black suns no less). I was able to grind up the 600K XP that I still needed in about an hour (maybe less). Once I trained 4333 (no mission required), I started the Kashyyyk missions to get the Heavy X-Wing.
The normal X-Wing does not have enough mass to be adequately equipped. I've helped a number of people fit these things out and it was a big pain in the @ss every time. You are always short on mass and/or power. I have never considered the ship worth the bother.
I was able to solo the Heavy X-Wing mission at 4333 with a Heavy Z95. As I've said before, I am not the best pilot in space. A few Mark III protons and a little patience is all it takes.

Are you throttling down when you turn in your X-Wing? The Z95 turns best around 95% throttle. The X-Wing is more like 60%. I thought maybe that is why you are having trouble in the X-Wing.
Hmm..not sure where you got that... for me, my heavy Z95 turns best about 55% throttle... and my xwing turns best at 40% throttle..

sorry about the thread hijack lol
actually all ships have a range where turning accelerationis best if I remember correctly:
Xwing- 40%-65%
JSF - 65%-95%
Heavy starters - 55%-95%
............
so your both right but the lower end of range gives you a tighter arc only because less linear velocity with same anglar acceleration and spd cap

My alt's heavy X-Wing seems to turn "best" at 65% throttle. The YPR on my engine is kind of poor since it is a crafted Mark IV with 103.5 speed. With engine overload three I can make very tight manuvers at 789 speed (65% throttle). This is fast enough get behind the fastest tier 4 ships long enough to vape them.

Did you try the loadout listed in my post? Although my stock loadout is based on my higher quality components. SWs using ok resources will produce heavier parts.
For the rebel squads I used a heavy z-95 till I could get my x-wing (regular not heavy). this has got to be one of the best PvE ships in the game (no clue about PvP since I never flew it in PvP). here is what I used.

Mk3 crafted reactor
Mk3 crafted engine (Mk4 at a higher tiers)
Mk3 crafted shield (lvl 8 RE reward when I got to higher tiers but had to drop the armor)
Mk3 crafted armor
Mk2 crafted DI (not everyone has a pre-nerf)
2 lvl 7 RE guns
1 lvl 6 RE gun
Mk3 Protons
lvl 2 RE Capacitor
Mk2 crafted booster
I used this ship for most of tier 3, all of tier 4,and solo'ed the vette.
There's a reason most RZA pilots flew X-wings pre-RotW. They're far more capable than most people give them credit for in PvP, and there are few things I can't handle in PvE in an X-wing.
