Drop my rebel pilot skills and my on-ground rebel faction to go imperial, do the jedi starfighter quest and then go back to being rebel?

Before you say yes/no, I'm only ranked as a Second Lieutenant in the Rebs and am only a 3333 Rebel Pilot. My Imp faction is at -5000 and my reb faction is only around +900. My goal would not be to go Imp permanently, but simply to complete theground portion of the quest so that I'll receive the JSF from Vader and then be able to use the JSF as a Rebel. Is the JSF worth dropping the 3333 I have in Pilot and re-grinding the FP for ground rebel?Anyone else having down this yet?

thanks

I'd try getting someone to make a throwaway character on your server, and help them level to a point where they could do the quest with you.

well if i don't do the quest as an imp, I thought that i would not be able to use the jsf. i have a few friends with both reb and imp characters and those imps have done the quest andgiven the jsf deed to their rebel ace pilots. those rebel ace pilots haven't been able to use the jsf.

is this a bug only my friends are experiencing?

I'm not sure about your possible bug. I don't have RotW, and I forgot you need a badge to pilot this ship. >.< Sorry!

np at all. from the other posts i've been reading, it seems that the jsf appears to be (along with the nearly identical grievous ship) to be the best pvp ship out there. i guess i will drop down and switch to imperial to get the jsf and then go back rebel. if i was already ace rebel or 4444 or something i might say differently, but i'm still only 3333.

so, if anyone thinks this is a bad move, feel free to let me know.

That's a fair amount of time/XP to regrind. Try getting PL'd by someone with a turret to get back to 3333 once you grab the JSF.

Depends on how you feel about regrinding FP and rebel pilot. Ive ground colonel for both factions twice, its really not a big deal.

I say, sure why not. But make the most of it. Go imp pilot, master it for the master pilot bonus modifer. That way you'll eventually have a X 3 modifer if you ever do privateer. At the least it will make regrinding rebel pilot much faster with a X 2 modifer. On top of that you gain more experience as a pilot.

If you're going to do it, make Rebel Ace first. It will make things easier to do again. Besides, having an extra Tri-cannon is not a bad thing at all.

I feel your pain.

Oh ya, imp pilot doesnt get a tricannon or borestal disruptor. They get an L7 boltdriver, they go in xwings quite nicely i might add. Good damge, good refire, good mass. I like them better then the L8 reward guns.

Or just get a B-22 basically the same ship stat wise just slightly larger. But if you really want the JSF then by all means go for it. Like the poster above said might as well master imp while your at it. Heck id do IMP twice just to pick up the extra level 7 reward gun (name escapes me) Will give you two nice blasters to RE to go into your new ship.

By all accounts, the JSF is a nice ship, but as someone said, the B22 does essentially the same job, is replacable and doesn't need a specific badge to use it... But again, as others have said, it's not that hard to change factions and sqaudrons (but master rebel first so you get the master bonus and the tri-cannon) so it really depends on how much you want the JSF really... If you don't like the effort, just grab a B22... If you don't mind the effort, go for it, you'll get a JSF out of it, and some nice reward items if you master imp pilot while you're there...
