Thread: Well, Grinding sucks.

Im a 4343 Rebel Pilot. I just want to get ace and get it over with. I currently use weapon overload, capacitor overload and cap to shield shunt, so I'm not worred about survival. But getting the XP is a different story. Ive heard many different ways to grind, IE scientist bodyguards, duty missions, kessel, etc. None of them get me where i want to be fast enough. I know I should just suck it up and grind no matter how long it takes but it's so tedious and I don't have a very good attention span. MY ship setup looks something like this:

X-Wing:

Component // Lvl

Engine // 5

Reactor // 7

Capacitor // 7

Shield // 7

Armorx2 // 5

Weaponsx2 // 7

If anyone has any good suggestions for me they would be greatly apreciated. Thanks,

Ezyc

Well first I have no idea why anyone would go for 4343 rather than 4433, unless this was a misatake?

But really all you need to do is destroy duty mission. But if you really want the exp fast then find some guys to team up and if you get 1 hit on the ship you get full exp, so this will increase the exp rate by quite a bit.

Also get an inspiration buff before you take off for a 10% bonus.

Think of it as "practice" rather than grinding.... I also find it helps to yell, "Take that, you bastage pirates!" after each kill.

Agreed on the "practice" 4333 now and half way thru the next box. I have been out with my friend killing tier 3 and 4 ships in Red Sin. We started this indeavor together and are currently both at 4333.

Initially, Iwas distrought about the 4 million xp needed but am finding I am way better now at aiming, tracking a target, orientation, and getting around in a turn than I was when I started this grindage part of the template. I had Aces helping me to the point of 3333 but who wants to go disable ships for 4 million xp lol. I didn't even bother asking anyone. Should be done by this weekend, which is plenty fast enough for me

Yeah, once you get to 4333 or 4433, Red Sin in Endor is a great please to XP-up. Great loot too.

Considering the highlighted statements man, the best suggestion I can give is not to fly. Doesn't sound like you enjoy it much. Seriously, I love 'grinding' shooting stuff all the time. If you like doing it, it's not grinding.

If you're hellbent though, Kessel got me a T4 box in an evening of flying. tier 4 done in 4 nights, including the usual screwing around before actually getting to fly. If that's still too slow, well, hmm...

I concur. Red Sin Cimera. Look for the Evil . This is the easiest to find fast spawn of Tier3 ships. This is where I go to farm. I destroy 2-3 ships per minute. Great XP.

Another great XP generator is to go overt, get a faction mission, and go grind Faction XP. You get BOTH faction XP, and money, and XP.

When I was getting box 4's, I would get a Tier4 destroy mission, and by the end of one mission, have three quarters of a box. There's IS NO GRIND.

You could always break the databases again, and hope they give out a double xp week.

Seriously, get a Destroy duty from the Rebel general on Rori, and fly it Overt.

you get:

XPs

Money

Parts

Faction.

As for your parts, unless they are mostly crafted, all I can guess from knowing the levels is you should dump them. Odd level loots are stinky in most cases.

IMHO... it's all about duty missions.

You can take a tier4 duty mission and see it through to the end. That should easily net you around 2 million exp.

I suggest getting yourself comfortable as it should take around two hours to complete. The amount of loot and money alone make it worthwhile (this has been my number 1 money maker since JTL launched btw). Also this should net you plenty of loot to have re-engineered so that you can upgrade your ships a bit.

True, you can just head to different POI's and have a good chance of finding a steady spawn, but with duties at least you know you'll get paid and the spawns will be constant. Also you can take a break if you need to by finishing a wave then waiting before heading to the next spawn point.

Dunno which ones you're doing but the one's I've done tend to net around 700-900k without a mastery bonus. The premise is sound though, I've found the math works out pretty well for most squads this way:

Do your tier4 mission, kill most of the ships. Do a full destroy Duty, and you more than likely have 1millxp.

Just do Black Sun duty missions from the Rebel trainer in the Lok hotel. The Khiraxz and Ixiyen flown by the Black Sun are big easy targets, all enemies are tier-4. They'll come at you fast enough that you'll stay on your toes. It seems really easy at first, but as you get near the end and 9 of those things are bearing down on you, you'll learn how to fly or you'll be blown to smithereens... Lots of loot, xp, and cash. Examine the loot closely before selling it to the chassis dealer, you'll get a few good items. If you're lucky, you'll get a Black Sun helmet you can sell for good credits as they are rare. Finish a few of these and you'll be 4/4/4/4.

Also, a few suggestions for your loadout:

Engine - You should have a reward level 6 one called "Incom Military-Grade Starfighter Engine". It'll be 79 speed 63 PYR. If you can, gather 5 or more engines and get a shipwright to RE this for you, try to get <9000 mass and >70 PYR.

Reactor - Is this a Mark IV crafted or looted level 7? Either way, too heavy. A Mark II with with 13k generation weighs 3.3k mass. Running reactor overload 3, that is plenty of juice.

Capacitor - Try to get a looted level 2 or 4 with better regeneration and energy than your current one, it does not even have to be REd.

Armor - Go down to Mark II to save mass.

Shield - Is this a crafted Mark IV with > 1800/1800 f/r?. If not, buy a new shield.

Weapons - You know you can fit 3 on your x-wing, right? Go with 3 level 7. Try to save any level 6s you loot, some of them are quite good. A level 6 can have the same or better damage stats as a level 7, but only weighs 10k mass.

I see you're on Valcyn, if you're not on the galaxy.pilots chat channel, you should check it out. Also check out the 77th.77th chat channel if you want to work with some Rebel pilots, the 77th Phoenix Fighter/Bomber Wing are a good group to work with. If I can be of assistance, feel free to send me a tell.

LMAO! Forgot I get an exp bonus.. lol! Yeppers you're right I believe... forgot how bad grinding could suck since I'm getting the bonus. But yeah, duties are the best way, worked for the 4 times I did Ace.
