I got two shots on me from a Firespray the other night, no idea what they where, but one shot was shield, one shot blown up, no eject or anything. I was using a missle carrying tank against the rebel space station and didn't have a blaster for defense. But is it always that fast? If so whats the point of POB ships? if the best armor can take two htis and is gone and the best shield two hits, one pass and it's game over? what is the point of PVP, When I was hit, I also knew it was coming, I saw him/her floating out there. I figured I could actually run away, is a very fast Oppressor, but jeeze, two hits? I was astonished.

dunno about oppressor stats and such. were u running droid/fc pgms like shield overload or shunt to shield? i have not yet gotten to ds since i just got ace, but i imagine going out the unprepared is just beggin 2b fodder.

i know that a firespray carries two weaps and 2 missiles. if he unloads all at once and has the biggest he can fit in his chassis(what? 250k mass or more) he will do extreme dmg to an unprepared and unaware target. heck, i might rip u apart in my t3 ship, but dont quote me on that

chk out the great guide in the stickies and be sure ur prepared for anything, cuz anything can happen in ds.

cheers...

Space PvP = fast.

Some think it's over too quick, others think it's just right. Make up your own mind

It is over that fast if you're just sitting there asking for it, yes. The Firespray probably had two very big guns and a fast engine, you had no chance of running away. It probably would have taken 2-3 or even 4 hits from a smaller ship depending on their weapon(s).

The trick is not getting hit... Next time be evasive. A Firespray is a big target, if you can keep him from hitting you then the fight is yours.

If you are in a smaller ship then a sequence of two salvos should be enough to disable critical pieces on a large craft if the pilot is not quick enough on the Cap-Shunt. Disabled critical pieces will several hamper the opponents abilities as it will in most cases cause Droid Overload programs to be reset. I typically in most engagements target engine components on a first pass. If I don't cause enough damage to destroy them then I'll do enough to severally hamper their abilitiy to manoeuver or leave them dead in space. Eject or destroy...it's still considered a successfull kill.

A Space PvP fight starts when one pilot detects an enemy pilot. Manoevering into a position to shoot, evading, dodging and dropping chaff is part of the battle, the shots that actually hit are just the end, usually - sometimes, cap to shield can save you, and armor helps big time.

If you are overt or in DS, get used to scan for enemies constantly.

Depends on the strength of the weapons and shields used by both parties. More often then not, I see 1 hit = dead. There are a exceptions, either due to equipment or luck. I've pounded at least 4 if not 5 shots point-blank into the engines of a Firespray before it blew, but I was flying a TIE/in so you know there was a huge equipment difference there. My own Firespray and most of the Oppressors my wingmates fly routinely survive the initial engagement with A-wings. I've pulled off 2 Cap-to-Shields in one fight using an Intercepter once, and I've seen player Y-wings that I swear would not die.

Prepare for the first hit to kill (you or them), but don't make have your tactics depend on it.

OK, first off thanks for the advice. I think the main thing that got me, was I didn't think he would shott, as I was sitting on the deck of the Resbel space staion at a safe spot, he didn't fly in, attack any of my ships, just sat there, So I figured he was just watching, again when I was flying away I didn't pay atention to him. Flying a firesprtay myself I know how devastating it can be. But figure, I take three or four pops at a tier 5 to take it out, I am thinking they really need to blow up the stats on our shields to make them similar in value. Two shots from an elite weapon will down even the best armor and shield in three shots? I wasn't looking for a fight, wasnt't lack of preparedness. Just a,mazed when it was two screen flashes and ship destruction thatw as all. Wondering if it is that easy. (assuming you get the jump) We have mitigation on the ground, so you hit a pc for a %, that doesn't seem to apply in space huh? How can tier 5's be tougher then our best ships?

There is a small PvP mitigation in space, but no where near what the ground game has.

If we add damage mitigation or similar mechanics then between cap to shield and plain evasive flying many aces won't ever die.

I had a friendly duel with a decimator the other day. A full equiped decimator with some of the best components around against my funky little Jedi Starfighter with some excelent Advance Ion/Disrupter weapons and running Weapon/Capacitor Overload/Overcharge 4.

first 2 shots stripped its shield and armour, third shot took out its reactor and the fourth blew it apart. all this before the decimators gunners even had a chance to re-act.
